Thanks for posting.
Those are the numbers used for the 2020 realignment.

I haven't seen the official numbers for 2022 as of yet.

Anyone have any enrollment figures, estimates,? Gaffney is probably getting close to the borderline depending on the qualifiers..
I haven't seen the official SCHSL numbers after all the adjustments.
I looked at the 45 day Active Student Headcount numbers and
Gaffney would likely have ended up somewhere in the 30's in enrollment based on that raw data.

Unofficially I had them 32nd in enrollment.

Not too far from 4A....

When you see a Byrnes team losing more than 2 games in a season there is only one place to look. I watched Byrnes last year in dismay, 40 players at best dressed out. I thought it was the JV coming out. When Byrnes had an elite coaching staff there would be between 85 to 100 kids dressed on Friday night
Tons and tons of talent walking the halls at Byrnes but they are not coming out to play ball like they use to. Couldn’t tell you why for sure but I do know what it looks like the reason is and it reminds me so much of the late 80s and early to mid 90s it’s not funny. :( :(
I dont give em hell, I just tell them the truth & they think its hell!

One reason the dress number is down is because of the SCHSL doing away with the 8 quarter rule. The days of dressing 80-90 players are gone, at least until the playoffs. I'm not saying this in a defense for the coaching staff, I'm just stating a reason that will keep dress numbers down.

Yea I went to the Byrnes Hanna game last year and was shocked at your numbers. 8 quarter may effect some
But I’ve watched Daniel at 3a and abbeville at 2a consistently produced 60 players for a game the last two seasons. Byrnes may have had an enthusiasm problem.

The other things that stood out was the defense or lack there of against a pedestrian offense and the amount of balls their receivers dropped.

The qb put it on the money and just wide open drops everywhere.

I didn’t see much of a problem with the offensive play calling especially considering how limited on the run game Byrnes was due to injury.

Hope to make it to one of their games this year.
The back half of Daniels schedule is filled with fodder.

Sorry but I don’t buy it. If you want to be a big time program then you’ll travel plus people still have to travel to you.
Big 16 has nothing to do with "big time program" it's based on the school enrollment. Wando was for a long time the largest school in the state and was never a big time program, unless we are talking about Marching Band.

The old let’s screw everybody for the sake of the one argument.
Two comments on this:
(1) SCHSL is an equal opportunity organization, they screw everybody.
(2) Realignments are not just about football.... it also includes sports that could never exist using that kind of realignment. Now if you want to handle football totally different than all other sports, having two realignments, a lot of folks would like that idea.

Personally, I like the way they did it where you had one classification with two brackets come playoff time.

Maybe you could have one bracket that is not set up by school size, sort of an OPEN BRACKET for big time programs only. I'll leave it to you to work that one out, I'm not smart enough to work out all those issues..... Who is a BIG TIME program and where do they play during the regular season, etc.
Based on older numbers (2 years old), the "BIG 16" would look something like this:
1 Wando
2 Dorman
3 Summerville
4 Carolina Forest
5 Byrnes
6 Boiling Springs
7 Sumter
8 Clover
9 Mauldin
10 Hillcrest
11 Ashely Ridge
12 Fort Dorchester
13 Stratford
14 Dutch Fork
15 Lexington
16 River Bluff

How many of those schools would you consider BIG TIME? Wando is going to be smaller with the new numbers and could fall, maybe even below 16.

NOTE:
No Gaffney, defending 5A champions
No Spartanburg, Upper State finalists last year

Again, BIG 16 has nothing to do with Big Time Program, just the total number of students at the school.

Nothing. This link still has last year's brackets up: https://schsl.org/brackets

I did find the dates of the championship games, Dec 1, 2 and 3. But they don't say which day each class plays on, or where.

I guess the 5A Athletic Directors will meet and determine who and how when it comes to the playoffs. With 36 teams in 5A, I don't see them having a 32 team bracket as you would have some seriously bad games in round one. Only 4 teams not making the playoffs would seem a bit off the deep end to me.
