That's because we wanted to play with the big dogs. Went and played (and won) in the same challenge that snapped that "streak".
And that's what I been trying to convey...once Indy stepped out onto the National stage, and actually left NC...they got thumped.
What's Knott's record against OH, FL, AL, CA, PA, LA, VA, GA?

Direct quote from Knott's after getting beat by OH team:

"We have been living dangerously, this season and last. We
opened the door for everybody. Now it's over. We didn't make plays or force turnovers.
" 2007

Surely your smart enough to understand what "opened the door" meant. Right?

Opened that "big scary door" to the outside world. Just goes to show he was pampering that streak

Say what you will, but the man ain't DOMINATING anyone up this way... winning by a few points here and there...but there is no domination.

Haha. Not sure of your logic.

Why is a coach expected to schedule out of state opponents? The ultimate goal is a state championship, right? They clearly havent been deficient there.

Every 5A program has a chance to beat DF in the playoffs or state championship game. Worry about your backyard before worrying about your neighbor's.

What do you want to be when you grow up Max? Lose the horse blinders. Programs these days are going for NATIONAL RECOGNITION.
Is a Montana 5A Championship team as good (worthy D1 style) as a Texas 5A championship team? Historically? Numerically? Why play the game?
Browns vs Bengals for life?
What happens when you step over the bricks at Carowinds? Does it make you a better football player because you are standing in another state? Something in the water a 100 miles away?
Bottom line...you gotta get out there and play. Get out of the cow pastures.

Yea me neither on that one. But it is true the last time we played Dutch Fork we beat them in Columbia and I do believe that was Knotts 1st year at the school.

Dutch Fork traveled to Allen Texas and played a Kyler Murray led Allen team who had D1 talent all over the field. Lost 58-53 Most if not all persons outside of the Columbia area gave Dutch Fork no chance to be competitive. Took an onside kick recovery late in the 4th for Allen to secure that game. DF traveled to Louisville Kentucky and lost to perennial powerhouse Xavier in overtime. A missed extra point was the difference. Df is 2-1 against Byrnes. 5-4 against Dorman. 0-1 against Gaffney and have beaten most other teams out of Region 2 numerous times. Mallard Creek the last two years. Traveling to California to play any of those teams is fiscally irresponsible. To say DF has dodged anyone is absurd. There is alot of respect in the Midlands for Region 2 football and the tradition that comes with it. Anyone that follows SC high school football knows in most years it will be a Region 2 Team and someone else in the state championship. DF has worked hard to be that someone else and in the last decade, they have done a remarkable job in turning a middle of the road program into a state powerhouse. We all know football is cyclical and right now the Silver Foxes have beaten all Challengers. All 5A programs get their shot every year.(including playoffs) Last four years nobody could beat them. Like the coach or not, you have to respect that.

I remember that Allen game. DF repped SC well, just as Byrnes always did when they played out of state against some of the nation’s best.
