I know you wasn't. Ddub you are so spot on with the new stadiums being cookie cutters. I miss the old reservation cause you were on top of the field and the players could feed off that energy from the stands on every play. The new reservation feels like you are goin to a church or to a funeral cause nobody will holler and if you are cheering and hollering you are getting funny looks and people start acting like they are annoyed with you. I don't man I wish Gaffney would redo the new reservation a little and move it the stands closer and move all the people there to socialize to one corner and let us fans have the rest of the stadiumDdub14 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 5:28 pmNah man wasn’t bustin on the old res at all , I love the old gritty dirty stadiums with the character. I miss old singleton field at Daniel, there was always something in the air it seemed. One of my favorites was Bruce field in Easley you always felt like you were on top of the field. Even old ginilette field in Seneca was awesome even if you had to look around the light poles. Everything now is cookie cutter and all the stadiums in every district is built the same way. I don’t like it.

Battery sales are down in Gaffney along with trips on Friday to the bank for rolls of pennies. Suit up before going through the tunnel. For real though it’s stuff like that you never hear about anymore.
At Easley they had a guy named Doris Childress who was a legendary figure and had special needs. But he could get confrontational with the opposition especially Later on in his life . He would ring the bell when Easley scored a TD. I remember playing JV b-ball one year and he was spitting at us in the lay up line . Fortunately he never hit anyone or it would’ve been a ruckus.

At the Old Reservation, they would break the side view mirrors off of your vehicle if you had and signs on it indicating that you weren't a Gaffney fan. And the battery throwing was a given. Getting full cups of soda thrown on you was also a given. Not dissing on it, I always thought of it as just Home Field advantage.
The "Godfather" didn't whine like The "Slobfather" is doing, when he got INDICTED!!!!!

Greatest venues for me were: The Reservation, Snyder field, J.L. Martin, District #3, Nixon, Summerville, Union fairgrounds, and Irmo home side

I remember being at a Union-Byrnes game before I was in High School, so 1968 or 1969, and it was Homecoming and the coldest game I ever attended. They had the contestants in the convertibles sitting on the back and you could tell they were freezing. My uncle opened his thermos of Hot Chocolate and as soon as the cold air hit it, it shattered. Union fairgrounds is still a "home field" advantage.Onion Rings wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 5:08 pmGreatest venues for me were: The Reservation, Snyder field, J.L. The Old Reservation was for sure a Home Field advantage. District #3 was always a great venue and Irmo was a lot like Byrnes' Nixon field... great home side, sorry visitor side. Mauldin is the same way, super small visitor side and you have to walk two and a half miles from the parking lot. Another one that I used to hate was the old Easley stadium, sorry EHSMeanGreen. And for the really old farts, Greer's stadium down in the hole was horrible. No parking, and in the middle of all the houses.
