BruinDad,

I was hoping to get more of a reponse than that, ha. Come on, you don't have anything to say? Tell me why you think South Florence stands a snowballs chance. Thats the fun of this, its debate, we are fans. We aren't playing the game. Stratford was very much overrated and outside of that Sumter is your big win on the year. If South Florence was in Region 2 or 3, they MIGHT be 4th best team at best. South Florence surely isn't better than Byrnes, Dorman, Gaffney, Spartanburg, and probably Boiling Springs in 2. Looking at Region 3, I think South Florence could give York problems, so you might finish 3rd in that region. Surely wouldn't beat Northwestern or South Pointe

If South Florence does avoid playing South Pointe and makes it to Northwestern, then the game will be anything but interesting, Northwestern would win by 17 or more. South Florence just does not have the athletes to match-up for 4 quarters. NW is better at QB, WR, OL, DL, LB, DB, and special teams. Not too mention NW has better coaches and South Florence would be on the road. South Florence should hope for that 4th seed, you guys have a better shot at GC than NW. Again, you won't beat GC either, but they seem to be weaker on defense than NW. Either way, S. Florence won't get past either of those teams. NW is heads above everyone in D2, and GC is heads and shoulders above everyone else in D2.

Wow... Some pretty bold predications there... Can't wait to see how this turns out, hope you don't have to eat too much crow...

I will not say "NEVER HAPPEN" but just to get Stratford to Division One I had to get, let's call it, "very creative"

While I will not say "NEVER HAPPEN" I will say this, if it happens, there will be a lot of people scratching their heads come Saturday morning saying, what are the odds of all that happening at the same time!!!! I think there are too many schools from 1-20 that are locked to get much further than Spartanburg, but Stratford is not impossible... Goose Creek, I can't find a way other than someone getting kicked out of the playoffs between now and Saturday morning.... of course I mean someone other than Summerville... Old John would would have to make that trip up to Columbia again!

Guru's comments is coming from someone who joined TODAY at 2:09pm, so keep that in mind...

Of course he hasn't, that's why he's talking all that trash...Stratford a mediocre team, dude go somewhere with all that BS, Jacob Park ain't mediocre, he ain't going to the Bulldogs next year for no reason, not to mention they were 9-0 when they came to our house. Is our schedule soft, ill agree with that statement, however the next few yrs I feel it's 10x better than it has in the past. The former coach here has a history of scheduling weak teams and were now getting away from that. If your not too busy Friday night come on down to Memorial Stadium in Florence so you can witness first hand just how damn good the bruins are, if not quit talkin smack like a teenager and being a "keyboard tough guy" !

All it would take is a simple phone call..... Hopefully we will be making a trip to Columbia for other reasons. I can practically guarantee Summerville makes the trip to Columbia this year because I agreed to a secret event with my daughter on Dec 7th. It is some sort of birthday gift that is non-refundable that I promised her I would attend with her. She pleaded with me to agree to go with her....I could not say no.

HSBGuru,
Believe what you want.

After Northwestern, Byrnes and Goose Creek just about every other set of gurus in the state have the following teams in a gaggle:
  • South Florence
    Spring Valley
    South Pointe
    Dutch Fork
    York
    North Augusta
    Stratford
    Hillcrest
You don't think SF belongs in that group, I think your wrong. You don't think SF vs NW would be interesting, I again think you are wrong. NW would be obviously heavily favored but I think the rural underdogs would make the best of their time in the bright lights of Rock Hill D3 stadium.

I would give the Trojans the same advice I gave to the Knights last week, keep watching Goose Creek videos, that's the game you need to prepare for.

I joined today because I didn't know this site existed, I like it here because there are less Byrnes fans. As for my statement on Stratford, I did NOT say Jacob Park was mediocre, I stated that Stratford was. Park is elite, but on a mediocre team. Much like Adrian Peterson is elite, but on a subpar team (Minnesota Vikings). South Florence is a decent team, and with the right draw, might make the semis. But I am sorry they aren't in the same ballpark as NW and GC. They probably also couldn't hang with South Pointe or North Augusta. SF is in that third tier of Division II teams, now, they are the top of the 3rd tier, but the 3rd tier nonetheless.
