When was the last time that happened?

Well, from the time the BIG 16 was created (early 1980's) until 2004/2005 all 16 teams were automatically in the playoffs. Since the rule change to divide the brackets AFTER determining who was in the playoffs, Gaffney has made it every year, so you have to go back to before the BIG 16.

My guess, it may have been 1975 when they were 0-11. Some of you were not even a gleam in your Daddy's eye at that time....

In 1975 football season, I was already in the delayed entry program, waiting until April to go to BOOT CAMP. I was keeping the books and stats for Byrnes basketball coach, Harold McManus. Summer of 78 I was on the USS VOGE (FF 1047) chasing submarines...

I wasn't even thought about in 75 lol but I know I have never seen Gaffney either not make the playoffs or be this close to not making them and we went 2-10 back towards the end of Joe Montgomery's run with some pretty talented teams and still made the playoffs and either went 1 and done or made a little noise in the playoffs still

If you win out by beating Fort Mill and then Northwestern, you deserve the region championship. Doubt it will happen, but that is why the games are played on the field and not on the internet in boards
