Yes I have attend several games over the past couple years. I will attend at least one this season too. As I told you all several months ago you would be in AAAA you are. You said you would petition to go back to AAAAA and you didn’t. You would get a State Champion Coach, you didn’t. You had influence and you obviously don’t! Let’s see what your schedule looks like because so far you are not on any schedule of the major AAAAA powers. Everything you have said up until now is full of crap. You remind me of Robert D Raiford on John Boy and Billy, just a cranky old man. As far a Pippin, you didn’t control what he deserved or received. He earned everything and more based on dealing with what you all gave him for support. I suggest you let an old horse die and let’s see what your new coach can do. If you want me to be quiet stop bringing my name back into conversations.StateChampsGHS wrote:I agree. By the way, Pippin didn’t forget how to coach, he just learned what everyone else already knew. Greenwood isn’t the power that they once were and may never be until they merge the two HS back together again.
P.S. I wouldn’t have raised my head into the conversation until you brought my name in it.
Pippin ought to be greatful that greenwood let him retire with all that money. If it were me, I would have fired his ass!!! Shouldn't get a reward for losing to less than mediocre teams!! His ass should have been fired!!
I don't want you to be quiet. It's a message board for football. Say what's on your mind Damefan.
Coach Liner will definitely beat the teams they suppose to beat......like Easley, Hillcrest, Woodmont, Westside and Laurens.

Nah Damefan, having a coach that has a clue will help us become more competitive. Pippen woudn't win in 4A either. When he was at NA and had a good team, he lost to greenwood twice and NW. There was always some excuse as to why. He is an excuse making coach. That's why he never won the big one even with talented teams at NA
Re: Someone explain to me this
Was Marv Levy a bad Coach because he took the Bills to 4 straight Super Bowls and couldn’t win, what about Vince Dooley, he only had 6 out of 24 double digit win seasons and lost more bowl games than he won in 24 years. Is the only measure of a coach State Championships? I know many coaches such as Pippin, Jim Fraser, Les Evans, ( the last two are in the HOF) and many others that never won a State Championship, but along with their staffs they graduated players into men. It is their players who I listen to not the fans. In 6 years Pippin only had one losing season. The letters and calls we as coaches receive long after the playing days are over mean more than you know. They tell us the job we did. At Greenville and North Augusta Pippin only had one losing season, and the same at South Aiken. A lot of times people don’t appreciate the character of what they had until it is gone. Liner is a good coach and I wish him nothing but success like I would any coach, but I hate to see you disrespect what you really don’t know or understand. Sometimes losses are due to issues that the fan never knows about. Maybe you should just enjoy your memories and children and hope they gain the same memories you did. By the way, talk about excuses that’s all I have been hearing from y’all. What are y’all going to say if things don’t change? Just curious, you have a Greenwood man running the show now!EmeraldCityEagle98 wrote:Nah Damefan, having a coach that has a clue will help us become more competitive. Pippen woudn't win in 4A either. You can write a million paragraphs about Dan Pippin and how great he is. He didn't get the job done at Greenwood. PERIOD. I didn't say Pippin was a bad guy. He's a bad football coach for Greenwood. Pippin is not the only one that turns young boys into young men and productive members of society. The previous coaches at Greenwood we're doing that long before Dan Pippin arrived so that's nothing new. And WE WON TITLES. No Greenwood fan on here has ever made excuses. We just quote the excuses Dan Pippin makes in the Index-Journal after every loss. Great guy, wish him the best, glad he's gone.

Looking forward to seeing your future excuses. Having lived in Greenwood during part of Willis’s time as head coach Greenwood people treated him with a whole lot more class than most of the posters on this blog. As I recall Willis coached for over 10 years and never won a State Championship either. Greenwood is not the same anymore. Only had Greenwood and a Cambridge Academy back in those days and I don’t think Cambridge played football back then, only soccer, basketball and golf.EmeraldCityEagle98 wrote:Damefan wrote:Was Marv Levy a bad Coach because he took the Bills to 4 straight Super Bowls and couldn’t win, what about Vince Dooley, he only had 6 out of 24 double digit win seasons and lost more bowl games than he won in 24 years. Re: Someone explain to me this
Again 4 State Titles after emerald was well established. Greenwood was Dominant in region. That's courtesy of Shell Dula and Gene Cathcart. Ninety-six High School which is a part of Greenwood County was doing pretty well. Cambridge was still there. We still won so your point about greenwood not being the same after schools were added is completely false. Can't argue with the numbers man. Facts are not stupidity. Stupidity is ignoring the facts like you're doing. Not calling you a stupid person because I don't know you. Look it up, the history is there. In 98 emerald won a state title, 99 greenwood won a state title, 00 Greenwood and 96 won state titles. 2006 Greenwood won a state title. 2012 Greenwood won a state title. Athletes are all over Greenwood. The right coach just has to know what to do with them. Chris Liner will get us back.Damefan wrote:Looking forward to seeing your future excuses. Re: Someone explain to me this
Greenwood has won 4 titles since the formation of Emerald. And as mentioned even Emerald won 1 in 98. Shortly after it was made into a high school. Greenwood won a state title right before the coaching change, going 15-0. We will see what happens with Liner. I'm pulling for him as I have any coach that's been there. With the right assistants and pulling kids back into the program he could have success. He definitely understands the importance of Greenwood tradition.

Re: Someone explain to me this
Dan Pippin coached at schools with weak regions. North Augusta, South Aiken and Greenwood were in weak regions during his coaching career. He could never beat majority of the schools in the Rock Hill and Spartanburg areas. Now schools in the Greenville and Anderson county are beating Pippin within the last 4 years. Pippin couldn't even win a region title at Greenwood. Very sad! If he could have won a few of those maybe everyone would have gave him a chance but dang....5 years and no region title in a week region. Smh!
Greenwood of the past never laid eggs to Dorman. We always were competitive in those matchups no matter who won.

Good luck to all.
Re: Someone explain to me this
Like one of you said I could write a million paragraphs and we would still be disagreeing because you all have never been in a coaches shoes! It is easy to coach from the stands where you get to second guess all the calls you would have made but didn't. Can't wait to see how things turn out for you all during the next couple years. Eagle feathers can be hard to swallow if you are wrong as you have been on everything you have posted on what you all were going to do. I love how much influence you have!! No influence and wrong on everything so far!! LOL
By the way this has not been about Dan Pippin, this has been about RESPECTING a human being. Kids do read these posts and go back and tell their friends so when you post think about how you undermine your coach with your posts. The kids use to tell us about what they read. My kids told me about what they read. Don't kid yourself when you post negative stuff that it doesn't get back. Just think about it sometime. So glad I am retired, and glad another of my friends has retired from this town. You didn't deserve him. Bet you one day he is in the HOF too!!
