He (Nickles) is consistent in 1 and 2A. Not 4A and 5A. Need to be more balanced these days in these larger classifications. Porter has won at schools that aren't even football schools. I live in Simpsonville, it ain't no Greenwood where athletes are just running around the community. He is creative, a heck of a motivator; and he can connect with any kid. Doesn't matter what their background is. He won a title at a school that's never done it and never was going to without a special coach. May I add that it has no true football support. My kids went there. Porter before Nickles and Liner for me, but I'd take Nickles over Liner.
I totally agree. Porter is a proven coach at non traditional powerhouse schools like Hillcrest and Greenville. Good point, Eagle 93!!!

Well.... Porter had a that one ballen team for Hillcrest. But after that......hmmmm.... But you know, he'd be better than pippin so we'll see. As long as the program doesn't regress I'm good.

Porter won the big 16 at a school that doesn't win. Can't take that away from him.

Was no one "ballen" as you say team. Did you miss where I said no football history, support; or athletes running around like Greenwood? How many times have we beat him in 5 years? He beat Cathcart's last team too. Then he went to Greenville and went very deep in the playoffs. Also a school without Greenwood's football history and support. Folks need to open their eyes. This guy can coach. All of his teams are creative as heck. No guessing his plays. His a great motivator.

I look at what the team is doing on the field. And his teams are energetic, motivated; and creative.

Wasn't Hillcrest running a constantly moving and shifting defensive front the year they won it all?

Bro, at the end of the day Porter has a state title. Great accomplishment. Beating a Dan Pippin team isn't. Especially when you can guess the plays. Everyone beat Dan Pippin teams. He went deep in the playoffs with Greenville but lost to Wren. The jury is still out on Porter as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather have Nickles. But you know, maybe he can reach these kids at Greenwood like you say. I hope you're right if it's him. I'd rather have Nickles.

Again. That's in 1A and 2A man. It's different in the bigger classifications. I hate to tell you. It probably isn't going to be Nickles if my information is correct.

That Greenville team beat a good BHP team twice. They lost to a good Wren team 17 to 7 which went on to win a state title in 4A. Porter did all this in his first year at Greenville High.

I was hoping for Cathcart but if Porter can reach/relate to these kids and don't play favorites like Pippin did I'm good with Porter. The administration needs to get this right though. No time for coaches that haven't won and still trying to figure it out. Porter is a proven winner in the highest SC classification.

I'm hearing Cathcart is staying put. They basically have 3 finalist.
