Ok so this weekend the Lucas Oil and World of Outlaws go their separate ways and race in different states for the first time in about 2 months. Lucas is headed to Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City KY for the 15th annual John Bradshaw Memorial for 12K to win on Friday night and then move on to Portsmouth Speedway in Portsmouth OH for a 12K to win and then Sunday they will be at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne WV for the 51st annual Hillbilly Hundred and it will pay 30K to win and its a 1 day show. I look for some of the Woo boys to head over to WV and run this race since it is on Labor Day weekend.

World of Outlaws will be in action as well this weekend starting in Lake Odessa MI for a 10K to win show at the I-96 Speedway and then moving to Hartford OH to the Sharon Speedway for the Battle of the Border show and it will be a 2 day show that will be on Friday and Saturday.

Labor Day weekend is just around the corner and that means 3 nights of racing on both national series plus racing at the local tracks as well. Lucas swing through KY OH WV will be a some of the best racing and the WOO tour through MI and OH will be some pretty good racing too.

The local tracks will be back at it this weekend as well on Friday night you will have Carolina Speedway having the limited late models, super street, thunder sportsman, open wheel modifieds, thunder bombers, hornets, flag pole race, and bike racing for the kids.

Saturday night Lancaster Speedway will be hosting the Ultimate Super Late Models for a 4K to win show and then on Sunday night the Carolina Clash Series will invade Cherokee Speedway for the Hall of Fame race and also on hand Sunday night will be the Monster Mini Stock Association series for the 4 cylinder division. The Carolina Clash Series will be racing for 5K to win and 500 to start the main event the MMSA series will be racing for 1200 to win.

Oh yea did I forget to mention that college football has started so if you ain't busy come on out to Cherokee on Sunday and watch the Hall of Fame race and see the next class be inducted into the HOF

There are some sources that are saying that Chris Madden will return to the cockpit of his late model this weekend at the famous Eldora Speedway for the 50th annual World 100 this is great news as he was injured just a couple of weeks ago at Mansfield

This past weekend was huge for the tracks around our area for late model racing where you had 2 regional tours come through the area and had some pretty good racing. To me the regional tours let you see the up and comers and also some of the best talent from around the southeast race that you wouldn't get to see normally. These guys run these tours to get experience to either move on to the national tours or stay around this area and race and make money without all the miles up and down the highway chasing that infamous national touring title. These regional touring series titles have become just about as prestigious for some drivers and the logistics and time away from family is not as long as it is on those national tours.

The Lucas tour made its 1st stop on the weekend Friday night at the Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City Kentucky and it saw a tour regular that has had some struggles over the past couple of seasons get back to victory lane with Tim McCreadie getting the 12K check. Mike Marlar would take the group A and overall fast time with a time of 12.722 seconds and group B would see Tim McCreadie get the fast time with a time of 12.723 seconds. Heat winners would be Billy Moyer Jr, Tim McCreadie, Kyle Strickler. Bmain winner would be Johnny Scott. TMac would take the lead and would battle with Tanner English about half way but would emerge victorious.

Saturday night the Lucas tour would roll ito Portsmouth Speedway in Portsmouth Ohio and it would see Superman Jonathan Davenport take the win for the 12th time this season. Fast time in group A would be Tyler Erb and he would also be fast time overall with a time of 14.336 Group B fast time would be T Mac Tim McCreadie with a time of 14.510. Fast time honors would go to TMac group A and overall with a time of 12.722 group B would see Tyler Erb with a time of 12.771. The World of Outlaws rolled into I-96 speedway in Michigan on Thursday night and mother nature would play a part in the outcome of the race. Brandon Sheppard would take the green flag and charge around Chase Junghans in turns 1 and 2 to rocket to the lead and would take off and build and impressive lead and with 24 laps complete mother nature would say that is it for the racing as the bottom would fall out of the sky and the race would be complete. Brandon Sheppard is having a season to remember and is close to tying the single season win mark. That mark is set at 18 wins and Sheppard is sitting at 17 with just a handful of races left.

Friday night the WOO boys would roll into the Sharon Speedway in Sharon Ohio for a 2 day Battle of the Border show. Brandon Sheppard would win his 18th series race on the season and would tie the single season lead on Friday night. Brandon Sheppard would charge to the front and hold off a battle with Ricky Weiss and Chase Junghans to claim the win. The finale of the battle of the border would be postpones til Sunday and would eventually be canceled due to mother nature rearing her head again

This weekend is the grand daddy of them all when it comes to dirt late model racing. This weekend is known as World 100 weekend and the racing started tonight with a full program of qualifying heats and 2 A main features. There are 98 cars signed in at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg Ohio. The Eldora Speedway is known as the house that Earl built and it is a half mile clay oval that has been the place that host big time late model races such as the Dream 100 and the World 100. If you are into dirt racing you need to go to the state of Ohio atleast once in your life time and just see this diamond in the rough.

https://www.dirtondirt.com/video.php?watch=12353 Please take a minute to watch this video and tell me you don't get goose bumps from watching it and it doesn't pump you up and make you want to go see this race track for all its glory.

Earl Baltes built Eldora Speedway in the 1950's I believe and he promoted that track and owned that track up until 2006 if my memory serves me correctly then a man that has won many a races and has been to the highest of highs and won the Nascar championship and has won sprint car wins and won all other races. Tony Stewart bought the track and is picking up the legend that Earl built and has ran with it and has carried on the legend.

The World 100 has been ran for 49 years and started out as a 3K to win even the 1st year and has increased its payout by 1K every year and this year it will pay 52K to win. Next year will be the 50th running of the World 100 and the talk is that this will be the biggest one of them all.

This weekend the stars of the dirt late model world will be in Knoxville Iowa for the Knoxville Late Model Nationals and it is goin to be a on fire the season is winding down and the championships are just about settled. This is one of the last big big money races of the year. Thursday and Friday night offer 7K to win both nights and then the finale on Saturday will be for 52K so there is a chance for somebody to bring home 64K if they get lucky and can sweep the weekend
