Daniel vs Greer

The 2023 season is finally here and my Lions will be traveling up to Greer for our week 0 contest. Last season when Greer came to us we left with a big 51-21 victory over the Yellow Jackets. I would love if we left this game with a similar result.
In the Greer film I’ve got to see they played Powdersville and it was competitive game with both teams scoring 6 times. Then they also had a scrimmage/jamboree with Mann and they had a hard time stopping their very good offense. Greer has a very good offense led by their 4 Star Junior RB and two way WR/S who are both dynamic playmakers. The defense has been suspect in the preseason allowing a lot of scores, which is something our offense usually has no problem taking advantage of.
My Lions have a dilemma where we have 4 good QBs but only 1 can be on the field. Our freshman should be there this week since there is no JV game but I still don’t think he is quite ready. The remaining 3 are Chapman, Bush and Turnipseed. Chapman has looked decent in the preseason so I believe he will get the nod to start this game but we will still likely see Bush get a good amount of snaps. Turnipseed moved back to Clemson over the summer and is playing some catch-up but we still may see him depending on how the game goes. Other than the QB position we have an OL that has experience and a 2 headed monster in the backfield at RB with Bennett and Shaw. Receivers look good but not great, it’s hard to replace the talent we’ve had the last 2-3 years. Defense needs to step up and just play up to their talent level. They allowed too many plays against Mann and then redeemed themselves against Crest making big plays but still allowed too many penalties.
I do believe this will be a good game for both teams to start the season. Both teams have talented players but struggled a little bit in the preseason, but by region time I think they’ll both be at the top of their region. I’ll always side with my Lions but I think it’ll be closer than it was last season.
