So what’s your thoughts on this one?

Other than Providence Day being ranked higher than Crest,SP and Mallard Creek in the Carolina’s poll..I know the Trogan’s offense scores a lot..which translates to I don’t have a clue about them..

Gaffney’s defense got a wake up against Crest..Our leading tackler from a year ago still hasn’t played yet and from what I hear won’t return until region play..Dan seems to have emphasized the stupid penalty killers and it has seemed to have paid dividends..

With all that useless drivel said..I think the Indians are a little overall more battle tested and they are @ home..

Truly a tossup on paper,but I got the tribe by 5..with special teams the difference..

Both teams will be a better after this showdown..

Just hope both come out of the game injury free and for heavens sake we have a competent group of ref’s who don’t want to be the stars of the game.

NW played a lot of sophomores last year which are now juniors. I still think it will be them winning state this season. Next year NW won't lose a game unless they get bitten by the transfer portal. Gaffney beat them last year and has another chance this year. Next year there will be no chance.

Have you checked Gaffney roster..Gaffney beat you with a whole lot of sophomores and a couple of freshman last year..some are saying next years Gaffney team is the one to watch..

why would you get bitten by the transfer portal ? I guess that’s a thing now..by that I mean..do you think NW players will leave or other teams get better?

The last high school game I watched, Carolina Forest/South Florence featured a running back who was the leading rusher for Carolina Forest last year now playing for South Florence this year. There are a lot of high schools in the Charlotte Metro and plenty of examples of York County players going across the border and vice versa.. The qb for Providence Day being one. As a side note, my opinion is NC high school football is now better than SC high school football. For a long time it wasn't that way, but once Knotts left NC things started to change in NC especially Charlotte area teams.

I’m looking forward to a really good game. I also agree, both teams will be better for having played each other Friday night. I don’t know anything about Gaffney specifically except they are always physical and good. I don’t expect any different this year.

Gaffney May have had young guys last year, but not the QB and the DLine. Last year our OL was more experienced than this years. Playing the Reservation will be a challenging environment for sure.

I do think PD is by far the best team we or Gaffney could play this year. No other team has the breadth of talent they have all over the field.

What the result of the game be? Who blinks first loses? I’m glad we scrimmage Spartanburg and Dutch Fork to prepare. We will see what happens Friday. Let’s keep everyone healthy, decent officials would be great. Don’t be surprised by the quality of our defense and special teams. We are no longer just an out score them kind of team.

No prediction here. Lot of optimism.

I think the game will probably be decided by who has the most quick offensive possessions without a score. You are not going to be able to miss an opportunity to score and stay in the game. We have to be able to get a running game established to get some one on one's with our receivers. I like our chances if we can accomplish that.

I think we have a defense that may be able to recover from a couple of turnarounds but a quick 2 score deficit changes things quickly.

Then again, who knows, it may be one of those defensive battles.

Even without Cook, I think our LB play will be the difference. They are always around the football. It will be exciting when we get that kid back and can keep them rotating and fresh.

Gene Knight picked the Trojans to lose. The Movinthechains bunch picked the Trojans. I predict a star will be born this game. Maybe a game between the eventual 2023 4a and 5a future state champs. NW leads this series 29 to 26. The fact that both teams have losses in week 0 shrouds this game in mystery and the whole state of affairs of 4a and 5a football in the state as well.

wow.not much to say except hats off to NW..you kicked our Butts..other than getting their and the Indian fans feelings hurt I don’t know what the Tribe can take away from this one..

I’m really shocked but I guess I shouldn’t be! Northwestern is probably the best team in the state any classification. In 5A the lower state teams has a very legitimate shot this year to steal the trophy from the upstate.

I didn’t expect that last night, though I knew the Trojans are a complete team. Found it interesting yet disappointed that Gene picked against us. I hope the rest of the state keeps underestimating the Trojans. Gaffney will be just fine come November. With Rock Hill and then region play, I suspect Southpointe will be our next biggest test.

When the playoffs come I am intrigued by Irmo, SF’s defense, Greenville. Who else should contend? I thoughts Hartsville, maybe they will get back in the mix.
