Daniel vs Riverside

Post by stretch »

The Lions are back on the road this week to Greenville county to face off with Riverside who is 3-2 entering this game with wins over TR, Woodmont and Christ Church. Their losses come against 5A schools Mann and Spartanburg. When they win they usually go out and put up a lot of points, no less than 5 TDs in their wins. But when they lose, they lose big getting out scored 91-20.

Daniel enters this game 4-0 like last year. The offense is still rolling good they’ve had no problems putting up points at will against the so far easy competition. The defense has been steadily improving through every game, they should have not allowed a single point to either county team but Pickens got a late score on us last week to spoil the shutout.

This one could have a lot of points by both teams depending on what Riverside team shows up. Seeing how they’ve performed against stiff competition so far this year, I don’t think we’ll see that team. If we go out and play our game we will be okay.
Go Daniel Lions!!

What I saw from Riverside was this..

Big physical WR.. Good play calling, decent size up front, lots of athletes.. lots of support from community.

To me, just an observer, the problem was execution. Balls thrown behind, RB not hitting open holes.. they seemed to be a yard or two out of position all night..

I'm not sure how young they are but they were not a bad football team. It's not undisciplined, it just seems like they play with a little too much cushion

Daniel will win but don't be surprised if you notice the same things.

56-14 win and it was one of those over quick games we have so often.

I think your assessment was pretty spot on, they have good players out there but they could just not get anything good going. Their biggest play on the night was a kickoff return that put them inside the 10. Their worst play on the night was also on kick return, they tried a lateral just to try and generate something positive and we got it right back. I believe they have a chance once again to win their region but execution needs to improve.
Go Daniel Lions!!
