Surprises of the season, so far............

Post by trojangrad78 »

Okay. I'll start off.

Overall, I think that 5A has more parity this year than in many past years. Not surprised to see Summerville at the top of their region, but thought Fort Dorchester would be stronger. Byrnes...maybe a little surprised. Gaffney is Gaffney and the weather is getting colder hahahaha Spartanburg...a few too many mistakes and inconsistencies. Dorman......what happened?? Clover on top in their region and probably battling it out with Rock Hill for the region??? Dutch Fork is down this year. Can they rebound and make a run in the lower state?

4A is shaping up towards what many people wanted to see. A repeat state championship game between South Florence and Northwestern. Last year, in my opinion, South Florence was the better team on the strength of their upper classmen, especially the seniors. Northwestern was much younger than most people knew. Personally, I don't care who plays in the state championship game......as long as one of the teams is Northwestern :D

3A is not what I really keep up with. Is Daniel on the path to Orangeburg or will someone knock them off? Chester??

2A....okay....I'm pulling for Abbeville.

1A is the local team Lewisville all the way for me.

Others please chime in!

I am surprised that Emerald has not won a game. I thought they would do better this year. Looking like Bhp and Daniel for the 3a upper state . If that happens it would be a heck of a game . Greenwood is up and down . The big surprise in our area is 96 . New coach .Not many players .wildcats are 6-1

Broome has been a surprisingly good team in 3A and their game with Chapman will be a good one to decide the region champ. Wren has also improved despite having a freshman at QB and a new coach, they have a chance for 2nd in their region. Clinton losing to South Aiken was surprising but once they’re healthy they should be contenders and their game against Chester will also be a good one for the region. I hope we’ll see Daniel and BHP play. It’s a great rivalry game with bad blood and before they got moved to different regions for the last 20 years it was usually one or the other that would win the region title.
Go Daniel Lions!!

Keep in mind that Dorman is on their third head coach in three years.... that has to be difficult on the team, especially the Seniors

Surprises for me are Wando at 1-6. From such a large school it is a head scratcher how they get blown out practically every week with their only win coming against Stall. I think most were surprised with White Knoll being 7-0 at this point in the season along with Dutch Fork being 2-5. For DF, losing your starting QB to start the season coupled with your tough schedule can help explain the overall record. I still can see DF making some noise in the upper state bracket this year. Afterall, they really only have one bad loss and that was to Colquitt County out of Georgia. The rest of their losses were mainly 1 score losses.

3A- Manning and Philip Simmons are Undefeated
2A- Hampton County, Marion, and Ninety Six each only have 1 loss.
