BEAUFORT 54 NORTH CHARLESTON 12 FINAL 10/20/2023

Beaufort completely dominated North Charleston last night in a 54-12 win. Beaufort QB Samari Bonds had a great night passing and running the football. Bonds had 3 rushing TD'S on the night. Beaufort RB Jadyn Andrews had a Big Night also with 3 rushing TD'S on the night. Eagle's RB Elias Johnson had a rushing TD on the night also. Beaufort's Defense played a great game but did give up a couple of big passes to the Cougars.
This was a Huge Region win by Beaufort as The Eagles improved to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in Region 8 3A. Previously Undefeated and Region favorite Philip Simmons lost to Hanahan last night. So if Beaufort can beat Hanahan next week and Philip Simmons beats Battery Creek, that would cause a 3-way tie for first in the Region. I am not sure of the Region Tiebreakers as of yet. Does anyone know? If Beaufort beats Hanahan and Battery Creek could upset Philip Simmons then Beaufort would be Region 8 3A Champs. Beaufort could also drop all the way to 3rd in the Region if they lose. So next week's game against Hanahan is REALLY HUGE!!!! I can't wait!!!!
This game was Beaufort's Senior Night. It was awesome seeing all the Senior's and their parents being honored.
WAY TO GO BEAUFORT EAGLES!!!!

That Article is wrong, Slick!!!! The Post and Courier always makes a ton of mistakes. I am so embarrassed to say that I actually subscribe to them. But from what I am hearing, The Region 8 3A Tiebreaker is the amount of points allowed between the teams tied. So...It looks like Beaufort needs to beat Hanahan and hold the Hawks to only 6 points or less. Beaufort can also win the region with a victory over Hanahan and if Battery Creek can get the huge upset over Philip Simmons. If Beaufort loses to Hanahan, the Eagles could fall to 3rd place in the Region. If anyone can confirm the Tiebreaker rules, then lets hear it.
GO BEAUFORT EAGLES!!!!

"IF" the tiebreaker is point differential, then Phillip Simmons will win a 3-way tie with the Beaufort getting the #2 seed and Hanahan the #3 seed, unless Beaufort were to win by 58 over the Hawks (unlikely) whereby Beaufort would get the #1, Hanahan the #2, and Phillip Simmons the #3. Hanahan wins the Region outright by defeating Beaufort with Phillip Simmons getting the #2 seed and Beaufort the #3 seed.
"If" the tiebreaker for 2 or more teams in Region 8AAA is this:
1) Head-to-head among the tied teams.
2) Defensive points allowed between the tied teams.
3) Offensive points scored between the tied teams.
4) Defensive points allowed in all region games.
5) Offensive points scored in all region games.
Once one team earns the first spot, the remaining 2 teams revert to head-to-head for the second spot.
Phillip Simmons-36
Beaufort-6
Phillip Simmons-34
Hanahan-37
Beaufort-?
Hanahan-?
Then:
Hanahan wins the region by defeating Beaufort, or allowing Beaufort 9 points or less in a loss. Phillip Simmons would get the #2 seed, Beaufort the #3 seed and North Charleston the #4 seed
Should Beaufort defeat Hanahan, the final score would determine the seeding of the 3 teams.
Beaufort wins the Region “IF” they score 9 or more while giving up 6 or less. In that case, Hanahan gets the #2 seed, Phillip Simmons the #3 seed, and North Charleston the #4 seed.
Should Beaufort defeat Hanahan and score either 10 or more and give up 7 or more, then Phillip Simmons gets the #1 seed, Beaufort the #2, Hanahan the #3, and North Charleston the #4.
Should Beaufort defeat Hanahan while scoring less than 9, then Hanahan wins the Region with Phillip Simmons finishing 2nd, Beaufort 3rd, and North Charleston 4th.
If Region 8AAA has some obscure tiebreaking procedure, then your guess is as good as mine. This would have been decided before the season started, and all teams should be more than aware of the situation come Friday night. I would rather die than to have to pull for Possum Hill to win Friday night, or EVER, for that matter. I certainly would rather be a number 2 seed, number 3 for that matter, than to see Possum Hill EVER win a game.
Disclosure: The 2 above mentioned scenarios for tiebreaking are just the 2 most common that I have encountered over the years. Back in the old 4AAAA "Points" days, I saw where "Points" were the tiebreaker. I have no information as to exactly what the actual rules for Region 8AAA are this season. Lots of intrigue heading into this week's games for sure.

Yeah, the old 4A Points system had a built in tiebreaker right in the Handbook; but, when that went away the SCHSL allowed each region to determine how they wanted to break the ties.
Region II 5A is point differential at the end of the 3rd quarter in games against each of the tied teams. Why the 3rd quarter? Your guess is as good as mine....

I'd ask the Athletic Director or if you know who it is, the Region Coordinator.

With the "running clock" rule, the scores of games can be very convoluted. I will be curious to see what the 8AAA rule actually is. Having only been in this Region for 2 years now, and dominating it last season, this thought has never even come up in my mind. I was complately *shocked* by Hanahan beating Phillip Simmons. Makes for an interesting Friday night.

Thanks, Penguin! Whatever the Region Tiebreaker is, I just hope that our Eagles can beat Hanahan this week and get a home playoff game. It is definitely going to be a fun Friday Night!!!! I can't wait!!!! Penguin, I hope that you are doing well and if Beaufort gets a home playoff game, maybe you can make it out to the Eagles Nest to watch them.
GO BEAUFORT EAGLES!!!!

I still do not have a definitive answer to the 3 or more team tiebreaker. They have Rhonda pretty much settled in to a Friday work schedule of 2PM until 11PM so that she does the weekly close-outs and calibrates all of the scales and stuff like that. With her working, it is hard for me to make it, especially to away games. I have watched every game this year either on TV, or Youtube. This team is a far cry from the last 2 seasons. While they have shown moments of promise, silly penalties, lack of discipline, and a fairly inept defense, are all too frequent. 3AAA appears to be loaded this year as well. Crestwood, Dillon, and Gilbert, are all capable of winning it all in the Lower State. Do not be surprised to see Beaufort lose in the first or second round. The Playoffs are indeed a new season, and perhaps the Eagles can rely heavily on their past 2 years successes to muster up another deep run. I hope that all is well for you and your family. My daughter was just here for a week, and I got to see my grand daughter. We had a blast. I taught her the "pull my finger" trick and her mom was not amused. LOL. Oh well, life continues and as for me, I go in December to have my Pacemaker replacement surgery scheduled. Hard to believe that it will soon be 10 years since it was installed. Other than that, I just keep trudging along. Take care and good luck to our Eagles.
