Coach P has done an amazing job ,but I think his best chances was these last 2 teams he had! This year can't see him even coming within 3 to 4 scores of Northwestern. Going forward , think talent level will not be how it's been these last few years! So get out now , why you still have leverage.

Nothing new. Porter has been trying to get out of Greenville County for years. One can’t hardly blame him. The district could care less about football and prove it with their total lack of support. But this Greenville team has as much D1 talent as anybody. Surprised they have lost the games they have lost to be honest. But Laurens? That is a tough gig these days.

Wouldn't surprise me. The running joke every year used to be "where has Coach Porter applied to this year?" He's either run out of athletes or there aren't any he can poach from Woodmont, Hillcrest, or any others for the foreseeable future. Idk if anyone can turn Laurens around but it'd be interesting to see what he could do with a team like Greenwood.

This would surprise me. I believe Greenville is paying him at 6 digits or just below that. I know he really wanted the Greenwood job and he almost got it. Definitely out coached us Friday.

He is actually getting paid well at Greenville High. That's why this is a surprise to hear.

Laurens is a head scratcher. From the outside looking in they should be way better than they are. Question is though, is that job going to come open this year?

I don't know why he would want a Laurens job that turned him down twice. But if he does, more power to him. Unless it is a significant raise I don't see him undertaking a rebuild at this point in his career. Say what you want about him, but he won a State Championship at Hillcrest. And up till that point, that program was a joke.

I've received information from a source close to the program that pretty much confirms this. I guess will see. Lol

I don't have any proof, but a reliable source told me that two years ago that Dorman turned him down, he was the one coach I feared would be able to get kids to play over there. They are a sleeping giant no matter what anyone says.

So if he's not happy at gville and is seeking out Laurens? He wasn't happy at Hillcrest.
Maybe there's something about him that turns people off that's unrelated to coaching. Just a thought.

He can definitely coach..I don't think it's money. Just a hunch, maybe there's something else.
