Ok region 2 5A. What’s going on? A day from a DF beat down of Byrnes comes northwestern with a whipping of the burg. Gaffney is having flashbacks. LOL is Boiling springs the favorite in that region? Will riverside and eastside finish in the upper tier? Hard times in Spartanburg county. Y’all going to put the beacon out of business.

Gonna be interesting to see what the Viking fans who were at the game say about it.

Boiling Springs might actually be the favorite, I think they return all but two starters, and their QB is really good.

No, they did that to themselves.... that place is hardly even a shell of it's former self! Mister White left, and so did the quality!

As for football, scrimmages are like 7 on 7, it's almost football, but not really. Personally, I think 5-5 is reality expectation for the Rebels and I don't think that will be easy. All ten games are away games, multiple transfers, thousands of questions about the team, the coaches and just football in general in Duncan. New rumors every time to hear someone talking about the team, all those things add up to total chaos and that doesn't sound like a good setting for the team. NOW TO BE CLEAR: I'm not connected to the team at all, and I don't know first-hand what is going on; but that old saying "Where there is smoke..." seems to indicate to me that there is a lot of turmoil.

The cycle of life for a football program comes and goes. Some teams manage to stay relevant longer than some and some manage to stay down (and in some cases they stay WAY DOWN) longer. Your Silver Foxes landed a great coach and that brought with it a lot of relevance (and not to mention a lot of "movement" of the talent in the Midlands toward DF) after many seasons of down time and mediocre time. The big question, will those Foxes be the same without TK? The most important factor will be who comes in after he leaves. The right hire, it may continue... or then again.

The Rebels before Bobby Bentley were good, and few times they were really good and three times, they held a State Championship Trophy. With Bobby and with Chris Miller they were a POWERHOUSE.... after that, relevant, but far from a POWERHOUSE and now, are we even relevant? I've ridden that roller coaster. 1-10 and 15-0 and several stops in between. Enjoy the ride, it's fun! But remember, it ends way too soon!

53-0.....that's not acceptable at Spartanburg High School!! I haven't seen the team in person this year but i've watched video's of them winning a couple of 7 on 7 tournaments. I heard they had 6 starters out and some players injured, but 53-0 is embarrassing. They better get things fixed quickly or fans will be calling for Hodges head. I'll be at the jamboree Saturday at Broome, a full report is coming.

Honestly, I don't think Spartanburg or Byrnes should be too concerned....I look at camps, 7 on 7 tournaments, scrimmages, jamborees etc. the same way...just practice- Especially if you are resting several starters/backups. One or two key players out can disrupt everything and during pre-season the kids are not idiots, they know it doesn't "count". They get down by two or three TDs and it's easy for a kid to lose interest and the effort fades...probably should not, but it happens. By mid-October the true character of a team will be evident- use that as the benchmark...when it counts the cream rises to the top.

Don’t know how Spartanburg will fare, but not sure Byrnes isn’t in trouble.
