J L Mann -vs- Gaffney

Post by Rebel-Fan-74 »

Doodles says: J L MANN 286.9 GAFFNEY 245.6........Margin of 21 points

Massey says: Gaffney # 5 (0-0) 66% @ JL Mann # 15 (1-0) 34% (28-20)

Just a couple of seasons ago, even the Massey prediction would have been thought of as a joke! Why at the beginning of last season, I picked J L Mann to win Region One and was called an idiot, and told to stay away from those cheap drugs I was taking. Then the Patriots played for an Upper State Championship. To that I say: WELCOME TO HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL!

To be honest, I'd take Gaffney and 21 points in a half of a nanosecond... whatever that is called. I probably will end up taking the Injuns in the Pick 'em because of my Region II bias and my love for my Injun brothers and my new favorite BBQ joint <=====that none of those brothers ever told me about, so screw 'em!

Go Patriots!

I'm interested in what you guys think about this one!

Mann wins this one by 7-10 points for believe.
I like that they are home with one game behind them.
First game for Gaffney and breaking in a new qb.
Plus I want Mann undefeated for the following week.

Really don’t know what time of day you went to Daddy Joes, but supper time it is usually packed for music on the patio..The weekends it’s normally a line out the door…Holidays are insane…so we sorta like to keep it a secret..either that or we just take it for granted. I liked that Tripps Q someone your booster club bought me at your place..think it was Rebel One or Rebel Leader.. :? Of course I had some serious munchies that night…

Btw . 9 nanosecond is the time it takes for a EAM to reach a submerged SSBN on the aggravating Bra 8 buoy uslng ELF..it was called Circuit Mayfower..

Yes Gaffney is breaking in a new to them quarterback and yes he is stepping up from a SCISA school to the big leagues of high school football here in this state. I think he has a couple of rough drives early in the contest but eventually settles down and just feeds the RB machine that we have back there and then gets warmed up and starts dropping bombs on those so call patriots in the 2nd half. Defense will have to withstand the early barrage from the patriots and get some stops and some turnovers to help the QB settle down. Remember these names JR Smith, Jayden McDowell, Shane Davidson those are names you will hear a lot about this year. I will take the Indians and that 21 point spread to Vegas any day of the week and lay big money on it. I have said all of that to say this Ill take the Indians to win by 17. Oh yea Trason Smith will be a house hold name for the Indians for the next 3 years at RB and you will get a dose of him on Friday night as well

Give me the Indians by 14, I think the game against Midland Valley was more of an anomaly than what we will see this season from the Patriots. The Gaffney offensive line is to talented and with the RB's they have it will start to wear down the Patriots D-Line. The new QB will be fine, yes it's a step up from private school ball, but he can flat out ball.

Call me crazy or biased because our RB left to go to them, but I just think JL Mann is slightly overrated.

Having scrimmaged JL Mann this year and played Gaffney last year. This is at best a pick ‘em game for Gaffney. If I were a betting man I’d take Mann and the points. Their defense is good. Very solid against the run with the athleticism on the backside to cover without extra help. The SCISA QB looks great in shorts and a T-shirt, 7v7 style, but check his record against good scisa teams. He will throw 2 picks minimum vs Mann. Coverages are just different in 5A than JV.

Gaffney has their strength no doubt, but as I have read on this board for years Gaffney is a November team not an August team. First game of the year causes some real problems when you face a good opponent. Gaffney will likely make a deep run in November, just not sold yet.

Everybody just make sure to poke your head in the Mann recruiting lounge in your way in. Big game like Gaffney will probably bring a lot of official visits

That’s the way I see it as well…the defense will have to keep it close, but I’ll still take Gaffney for the win..a lot of talk about Gaffney’s offensive studs..but the defense should be solid..

How did y’all do in your scrimmage against Mann?
I ask because northwestern and Daniel run the same offense.

In sort, we were terrible until the very end. We won 17-14 on an 80 yard drive in 45 seconds, scoring with .9 on the clock. Our defense started the game with a pick 6. Then our offense threw two consecutive picks.

Historically, we have not looked very good in our first scrimmages. This one was u usual in that it was a good opponent and a jamboree format for the public. Mann’s defense did some interesting things up front that negated any running game which was enhanced by the fact we don’t game plan for scrimmages so adjustments are slow. The scores Mann had were big plays, the running back is good and fast. I believe he had the big plays to set them up via screens.

We were ok once we settled down, just in time. For a first scrimmage it was perfect. Able to learn a lot and still win to build some confidence.

The Mann transfer team did a great job getting some talented players around their new QB. He wasn’t amazing, but they have the pieces to bring him along and not expect too much of him.
