Greenwood beat Beaufort 37-18 this past Friday Night in a pretty exciting game. This game was really closer than the final score showed. It was 0-0 after the 1st Quarter, 7-6 Greenwood at the Half, and 23-12 Greenwood after the 3rd Quarter. I knew it was going to be a pretty good game. Both teams were really looking forward to this game as Beaufort Head Coach Bryce Lybrand is from Greenwood and played for Greenwood when current Greenwood Head Coach Chris Liner was an assistant coach there.
Beaufort had another chance this week to win a game but 4 turnovers killed their chances. The Eagles really need to cut down on these costly turnovers if they want to have a great season. Beaufort's Offense moved the ball again in this game all night but those turnovers really hurt. Beaufort outgained another opponent this week in total yards 402-312. Beaufort QB Samari Bonds had a great game throwing the ball again this week with almost 350 yards passing. BUT....He hurt himself in this game by throwing another 2 interceptions this week. He needs to cut out the Interceptions. Bonds is the leader on this team and has really good running and throwing the football overall but those costly interceptions have really hurt the Eagles.
Another thing that hurt Beaufort was our star receiver Amare Patterson got hurt in the 1st series of the game. I really hope that he will be OK. I wish him a speedy recovery. Beaufort's Defense played good for the most part but did give up some big plays.
Greenwood, I thought looked really good. The Eagle's have some playmakers on that team. I hope that all of Greenwood's Fans, Players, and Coaches made it home safely. I wish Greenwood the best of luck for the rest of their season!!!!
Ok, the only negative thing that I have to say about Greenwood. There were 7 or 8 Greenwood Coaches on top of the Pressbox. They were cussing and saying bad things about Coach Lybrand. I was sitting at the top of the stadium and heard almost everything. There were a lot of kids sitting near me also. The Kids parents kept telling the coaches to tone it down since they were cussing and the kids could hear everything. I am not saying all the their coaches were doing this but there were 3 main ones who were. I hated that they were saying bad things about Coach Lybrand since he is Greenwood born and bred. Coach Lybrands family were at the game too. I hope that these Coaches tone it down for future games.
I did meet a few Greenwood fans and some of their coaches at a store in Beaufort after the game. They were really nice! One of the fans said that their Pastor was Coach Lybrand's Brother in Greenwood. Also, One of the Greenwood Coaches said that they were impressed with Beaufort and they think that Beaufort can contend for the 4A Title. Good luck to Greenwood the rest of their season.
I also wanted to say that I really appreciated Beaufort Athletic Director Bradley Adams, Coach Ron Lanham, Big Green Booster Club and the rest of the Beaufort High School Administrators for having me my own Personalized Parking Space at the Stadium for being Beaufort High School's Biggest Supporter.
I hope to see Beaufort clean up these mistakes and turnovers and have a great rest of the season. Next up is a trip to Philip Simmons next Friday Night. I can't wait!!!!
GO BEAUFORT EAGLES!!!!

A couple of questions here. Are you sure about those stats? I was told Greenwood had almost 500 yards. And it looked like it to me watching the game. And what were the coaches mentioned saying? Lybrand is a Greenwood product, and he hasn't said anything. A receiver who might be arguably the best receiver on the team didn't play because he was hurt in the Gaffney scrimmage. Already has a D1 offer. But the other receivers still played well. But having him would surely add a huge boost to what is already potent.

What I've got from Greenwood is 419 total yards, but lost 30 yards from kneeling to end the game. That's not even counting the 3 plays that were called back that were questionable and were big plays. In the end the score is what matters though. Shoot. If it was yardage that mattered alone Clemson wouldn't be 9-4 last year. They out gained every opponent in those losses. Including FSU. It was a good game. Entertaining. It would've been rough losing after all of that riding. Traffic was horrible coming down. Took forever to get there.

Hey, eagle93. Those stats are on Maxpreps and also they are the stats that were sent to me. I know that Stats don't mean that much. But I wanted to post them to show that Beaufort did move the ball in this game. I know most people would look at the final score and say that Beaufort didn't play well and got blown out, but My Eagles did look good except for the turnovers. Also, the Greenwood Coaches that were on top of the pressbox, were cussing awfully bad and saying negative stuff about Coach Lybrand. I am not going to repeat what they said on here because I don't cuss. I have never been a cusser. But what they said was downright awful. I do hope that they tone it down for future games and not talk bad about another Coach at least in public.eagle93 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 3:35 amA couple of questions here. But I am going to put this game behind me now. I did think it was a great game to watch though. Good luck to both Beaufort and Greenwood on the rest of their season. I hope that both Eagle Squads have great years!!!! Take care!

MaxPreps goes by whomever sends in stats. I've had to have them correct a loss they had for Greenwood against a team they didn't even play. My numbers are from the staff. Liner talks to Lybrand weekly. He has said nothing of the sort. All of our coaches know Bryce including me. No mention. Yes Beaufort moved the ball effectively. I don't think anyone said they didn't. They should do well this season.BEAUFORTEAGLESFAN wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 12:09 amHey, eagle93. Those stats are on Maxpreps and also they are the stats that were sent to me.
