I've never seen two teams least interested in playing defense in my life

I only watched the 1st half, but it wasn't what I feared = the softening of America/not willing to tackle. While the tackling wasn't great, there was plenty of willingness to throw some bodies around.
Can't speak for the defensive schematics b/c of the angle, but there were a lot of big plays.... 72 points in a half..... WOOF
The biggest issue wasn't defense; why did neither team have any semblance of a kicking game? Lots of points, but I'm willing to guess the total yardage wasn't really that much b/c of all the short fields from KOs.
