Newberry @ Fairfield Central

The Bulldogs make the trip across the river tonight to play the Griffins in the Wach Fox 57 game of the week. This has become a big game for both programs since they played for a trip to state 4 times between 2012-2015 (I know 1 was in the quaterfinals, but everybody knew the winner would win upper state). They split these games 2-2.
FFC leads the all time series 17-12, including the last 2 games which have been blowouts. Last year’s game was never close as FFC won 45-7. In the last 2 games, the Griffins have won by a combined 93-7 score. I’ll never forget the 1998 game when FFC came in riding a 30 game winning streak and a national ranking, the Bulldogs ended that streak at Bulldog Stadium.
I have no clue how this game will go. Newberry is a lot better than the last 2 seasons, but I’m sure FFC is too. They also selected Newberry for homecoming, which is kind of a slap in the face. Newberry will have to play better in pass defense than they did last week vs Chapin.
Wach Fox 57 is showing the game online for anybody not going to a game that wants to watch.
Hopefully the Bulldogs can make a few more plays than the Griffins and come back across the river with a huge win.
