Scott Earley proposal

He wants to shut the season down for ANOTHER two weeks! Most everyone will have power back by the end of this weekend so why?! Just extend the season by two weeks, NOT delay it another two weeks! Dude is not a very smart man. Waiting another two weeks when everyone will have power in the next few days and will be back in school will be very harmful to teams and kids going forward.

Compassion for those seriously affected seems like a reasonable request.
Butt…opinions are like bungholes…everyone has one!

I may have misunderstood what he is saying. The way I read it was he wants nobody anywhere in the state to play anything right now even those who have never been out of school or lost power. But on re-read I think what he is suggesting is extend the regular season by two weeks which would extend the playoffs by two weeks. That was my suggestion but his wording and mine are different. He could have done a better job wording the letter to make it less ambiguous.

It’s a sheet show no matter how ya slice it.
Maybe if Woodruff had 2 or 3 losses your opinion might be different!!
😂👍

The way I read it was last week and this week's games would be added at the end of season.

That is all Scott is asking for , to add 1-2 games at end of season not put everything on hold

If you recall this was done in 2015 for flooding, 2016 and 2018 for hurricanes in LOWCOUNTRY .

Also I know all Anderson Cnty Superintendent’s have requested at least 1 week extension if not 2

Very reasonable, only 1 game this week (BHP/West Oak) that I know of and very few last week Most were moved to Monday but no power and lot of issues non sports related naturally.

Also, if I understood correctly , some districts have a policy that if kids not in school that can not play or practice . That puzzles me but I do know for a fact TL Hanna and Westside have not had any practices until today since last Thursday (was told this by golf coach and parent of TLH football player )

Pushing playoffs back 2 weeks is a terrible idea. It was a bad idea the last time it was done too. This issue can be solved by being more creative than just pushing things back. Then in the future create a strategy that plans for hurricanes to come to places like SC, where shockingly these things happen. Of the last 10 years, how many times have Myrtle beach, Charleston, or Hilton Head not had a hurricane hit during the months of August through November? You know, hurricane season.

Think about the 2015 season. Same thing happened with flooding in the Conway/Myrtle Beach area. You can’t help Mother Nature, but having the season extended at the end hurts a lot of teams getting ready for the playoffs. I think it would be better to take games off now and then roll into playoffs while everyone has the same competitive edge, instead of coming off a 2 week bye. My opinion though and I have 0 influence in any decision making.
