Bulldogs can take another step towards a region title Friday night. A Swansea win would give them a chance to still win the region depending on how Silver Bluff finishes the season.

This is the first matchup between the 2 schools as far as I know. Newberry has been playing good in the region, averaging 46 points on offense while giving up 20 total points. They shut out Fox Creek, and beat Keenan by 25. Swansea beat Keenan and Fox Creek, while losing to Silver Bluff.

I don’t know much about Swansea, but if the Bulldog athletes come out like they did against Keenan, it won’t be pretty. Newberry scored on their first snap and never really let up. The offense has been scoring all season minus the Clinton game, averaging over 38 points per game. Versus 3A schools they are averaging 44 points per game this season. If the defense can get stops like they have in region play this is a dangerous team.

Player down for Swansea after a big hit. Newberrry radio crew said it didn’t look good, helmet flew off when he was hit and he hasn’t moved.

Newberry forces a fumble and on the 1st play, Kenton Caldwell hits Cash Brown on a 44 yard touchdown pass. 28-0 Bulldogs with just over 9 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.
