3A State Playoffs Using CalPreps

I wanted to see what the playoffs would look like using the Calpreps rankings, which is very similar to what the formula for 4A and 5A is. I did what 4A did and seeded region champions first. Then I seeded everybody else as they were ranked without taking regions into account. Not sure why the folks at the HSL can't just do this and stop with the matching up regions BS they do. Seed the teams 1-16, it's not that difficult. Took all of 5 minutes to look it up and do a bracket, they can't be that busy doing what they do.
1 - Oceanside
16 - Bye
8 - Swansea
9 - Silver Bluff
5 - Keenan
12 - Fox Creek
4 - Dillon
13 - Battery Creek
6 - Hanahan
11 - Aynor
3 - Loris
14 - Georgetown
7 - Orangeburg Wilkinson
10 - Waccamaw
2 - Newberry
15 - North Charleston

Nice work.
In addition to a 1-16 seeding format, I would like to see our state scrap Upper/Lower permanently. We have it to keep up a charade of “less travel,” but our state simply isn’t that large. I feel best-on-best should decide champions, not geography (à la Dutch Fork - White Knoll last year, or Byrnes - Dorman back when).
Here’s a list of state playoff games this week with > 2 HR one-way travel (33/79, or 42%):
A (6/16):
Whitmire @ Lamar
Williston-Elko @ Dixie
Calhoun Falls @ Lewisville
Green Sea @ Cross
Carvers Bay @ Denmark-Olar
Hardeeville @ Lake View
AA (5/16):
Andrew Jackson @ Liberty
Landrum @ Pageland Central
Edisto @ Cheraw
Mullins @ Philip Simmons
Kingstree @ Whale Branch
AAA (7/15):
Silver Bluff @ Hanahan
Aynor @ Orangeburg
North Charleston @ Keenan
Georgetown @ Newberry
Battery Creek @ Dillon
Swansea @ Waccamaw
Fox Creek @ Oceanside
(every LS game, and zero US!)
AAAA (9/16):
Lakewood @ Westside
Pickens @ Camden
Lancaster @ Wren
Richland NE @ Seneca
Dreher @ Daniel
Beaufort @ Hartsville
Midland Valley @ Darlington
Crestwood @ Hilton Head
South Aiken @ Bishop England
AAAAA-2 (6/8):
Eastside @ Indian Land
Nation Ford @ Hillcrest
Woodmont @ Catawba Ridge
Goose Creek @ Chapin
North Myrtle @ Lucy Beckham
Socastee @ Westwood
AAAAA-1 (0/8)

In a fantasy world this would work out great for the Patriots other than having to play multiple teams twice til meeting up with MVP if it worked out. But in reality there's at least 5 US teams that have no business being in the playoffs. Can't speak on any LS teams. Clip some of those teams, play the games out and crown a champion and be done with it. No need to string out with other classes. Some of these kids have already checked out for wrestling and basketball.

Yeah, the 3:30 hour trip Georgetown is making to Newberry isn't right.

There are some lower state teams that have no business being in either, but EVERYBODY makes it. Georgetown has 3 wins in 4 years, and is making a 7 hour round trip to come to Newberry. I'd say drop a round, seed region champs first, then the best remaining teams by RPI to fill the playoffs.

The AAA realignment is a joke. There are exactly 32 football-playing schools.
Every school makes the playoffs, because of course they do.
Broome, Silver Bluff, Union Co, Southside Christian, Battery Creek, Georgetown, West-Oak, and Carolina won a combined 16 games.
Fox Creek and North Charleston both won 4 games but beat none above AA (except for Stall, which.. no).
*Marlboro Co being banished this year means Loris gets a bye in LS.

Right! All the US brackets round trip avg about 2 +/- hrs except for Union & Crescent it's 4 hrs round trip. Only one nt sure about is MVP & Carolina. MVP has played games at Newberry and PC. Do they get to host a "Home" game somehwhere or play all their games away? Regardless, Carolina has no business playing MVP.
