FLORENCE, S.C. — Heading into the season, Nick Jones was searching for two things — playing time and confidence.

Jones got the playing time as he entered the preseason as South Florence’s starting quarterback and the confidence quickly ensued. The junior signal caller was surer of himself and his abilities and a breakout season followed as he helped the Bruins to a school-best 12-1 record and first outright region title.
