DF will have biggest test of the season. Think Summerville have the offense that may be able to actually score on them twice
DF 28
SV 17

NW vs Irmo ..this could be first team to 60 :D Man gosh this one is toss up to me but ..Thinking NW will just win in a shootout
NW 51
Irmo 42

Westside vs SF ..SF has gotten back to title game and revenge factor will not matter   Easy
Westside 49
SF 27

BHP vs OC .. Two Questions How good is OC defense against the run? How good is BHP defense against the Pass? I went to the BHP /MVP game and Henderson is unreal! If OC defense can do what MVP defense did for 43 minutes .. I think OC will win by two scores! If they can't BHP will win by 3 scores! I say they can't

BHP 42
OC 21

2A Easy Clinton by 3 or more scores

1A Really

Saw NW absolutely dismantle a good Rock Hill team back in October. They looked like a small college team that was hitting on all cylinders. Gave up one TD to Malik Clark on a go route where the QB put the ball in the perfect spot. Other than that, they held him in check. It was a running clock to start the 2nd half. I was in disbelief at what I was witnessing that night. I walked away thinking that there wasn’t a better 5A team this season.

Was at the WK-Irmo game. I know #1 and #6 for Irmo are very good players, but my $$$ is on NW. If they are clicking on offense, NW will score as much as they want because I am not sure Irmo’s defense can stop them.

1A- Abbeville... although the Lamar and Lewisville games gave me pause and some hope that there may be future competitive games in 1A for Abbeville. Just too good at the moment.

2A- Clinton. A good 3A team and an outstanding 2A team.

3A- Going on a hunch with this one...Oceanside. I know the metrics and tradition point to BHP, but I like the Oceanside approach to a game- experienced interim HC too.

4A- I know South Florence wants a revenge game, but they are going to have to wait until Woods leaves...Westside should win this one.

5A II- Smart people are picking NW... I'm being a homer and going with Irmo. Brand had a good game against DF, he will need a great game against NW to win it. Irmo's defense has the speed but needs to be disciplined and limit the mistakes.

5A I- Summerville has a good offense that will test DF. I have to be a true homer and go with the Silver Foxes for the three-peat.

A Abbeville v. Cross
Don't know anything about Cross but unless they can out athlete Abbeville I just don't see them beating A Town. Those kids are built for this time of year, every year. I've spent time on the sidelines with Abbeville and they are good people, great kids, Go Panthers!

AA Clinton v. Barnwell
Same as A opponent...know nothing about Barnwell. Clinton is big, athletic, and once again full of weapons. Coach Fountain is a championship level Coach and he'll have his boys ready. They will most likely be too physical for Barnwell. Go Big Red!

AAA BHP v. OCA
Will the magic carpet ride continue for BHP? I've got a soft spot in my heart for the Bears and a cowbell that once rang for them. If Henderson can keep his emotions in check, not turn it over, have his teammates step up I think they'll finally get Coach Blackston his trophy. He's a great Coach and person. Something tells me OCA will have a good gameplan for Henderson but I'm still sticking with BHP in a nail biter. Let's Go Bears!

AAAA Westside v. South Florence
Westside looked a little sloppy against SP. Getting pressure on Woods is key. If Damare Adams can get his hands on Cutter it might be a long day for the Rams but in the end I think Coach Lane is the better Coach and his boys will get it done. Momentum is big and if Westside gets up by as much as 10 early it's gonna get ugly. Let's Go Rams!

AAAAA 1 Dutch Fork v. Summerville
To be the man you gotta beat the man! Don't know what to expect out of the Green Wave but in the end DF is probably too much.

AAAAA 2 Northwestern v. Irmo
On paper this looks like it should be just given to NW. Their region schedule is weaker IMO to Irmo's. Irmo should be battle tested but I think NW is due this year. They've been close in the past. In the end they just may be too much for Irmo. Trojans take the trophy back to the Rock.

A Abbeville v. Cross
I see Abbeville winning by 3 touchdowns at least. I think the Panthers just have to much speed for Cross.

AA Clinton v. Barnwell
Clinton is fast, Clinton is physical, Clinton does some unique stuff on offense. Their defense steps up when they have to. I’m a little bias since we played Clinton, and they are the only team to actually shut the Newberry offense down. I’ll take the Red Devils by 24.

AAA BHP v. OCA
I’ve watched the last 2 games for OCA, Dillon had a chance late to tie the game and got stopped inside the 5. I think BHP can use a physical running game to shorten the clock and put the pressure on OCA. Loris could never recover from fumbling the opening kickoff, and got ran off the field. BHP is a well coached team. A late turnover could be the difference between these 2. Give me the Bears by 6.

AAAA Westside v. South Florence
Westside is loaded with talent. South Florence has the players to make it close, but I think Woods has a big game and the Rams win by 10

AAAAA 1 Dutch Fork v. Summerville
Summerville is the traditional power, Dutch Fork is the powerhouse of the new era. If John was still on the sideline, this would be a huge matchup between 2 of the best to every wear a headset. I think the DF defense may be the most complete defense the state has had in a while. They are shutting people all the way down. I think the Green Wave can challenge them, but they can’t have empty possessions where they go 3 and out, and they definitely can’t turn the ball over. Give me the Silver Foxes by 14.

AAAAA 2 Northwestern v. Irmo
Irmo vs Northwestern may be the best game of the weekend. Both teams are very solid, and have playmakers that can take over the game. To me, the key is how NW handles Brand. IF they make it hard on him with pressure, I see them winning. If Brand is able to escape pressure and make some plays, Irmo wins. Irmo has 1 loss to DF, NW is 13-0. I think NW picks up their first loss of the year. Give me Irmo in a close one.

Got my wish a few years ago with a DF vs FD state title game. DF was in the Lower State for so long, that could not happen. Second wish was a DF vs Green Meanie title game. Should be fun. 9th straight trip to the "ship" and 12th trip in TK's 15 years at DF. I remember the "experts" saying that he would have success in SC but could not replicate the type of success he had in NC because of the competition... took him 26 years to win 7 titles as a HC in NC...won 8 titles in 14 years in SC. NC is a much larger state with more HS teams; experts forget that.

Have to wait and see what happens this Friday. Best of luck to both.

This Summerville program is getting better and the next 2 years will be a big indicator on if it will return to the glory days.. We have 4 sophomore starters that will be special..but We also lost the best player #22 to a broken leg that you just can't replace !!!
The Wave have had a solid season and will be very competitive this Friday.
The big question will be can the Wave coaching staff pull off the miracle ...
This is not the dominant Wave team of the past... but they are pretty quick...
Just Don't think they can over come Knotts and his heavy SENIOR TEAM..

DF -31
Wave -28...

Go Wave...

It will be a fun game. This DF team has been a pleasant surprise. Thought they would be good, but the defense is way better than expected. DF has been looking to 2025 and 2026 for some great teams, but this one has been lights out too. Proud of them. After that crazy season last year, had no clue what to expect. Looking at the roster DF will be senior heavy again next year...about 40 juniors on the roster if I count correctly. The Wave running back is going to be good. He needs to stay healthy and committed. Best of luck to the Wave.

Looks like decent weather today. Interesting match up DF vs Summerville. Looks like both can score points- will probably come down to which teams’ defense plays the best.
