Rumors coming out of Greenville High about the next coach is could be Ol Scoot Watson and it could be Coach Lamb making a return to Greenville. Rumor has is the AD been in talks with both and both have connections to Greenville Scoot was under Jim Sosebee and Phil Magdic at Greenville and Lamb was under Crane and Porter either one will be a great fit for the program both have great connections to the kids and the community. I don't know much about Greenville County Football I must admit. But why would Watson leave JL Mann where he built/recruited a pretty good program for Greenville High? Just asking...

It is also other's on this site hearing the same thing so it might be a lil truth to it but who knows

Here is the lowdown on Greenville County football. The district just doesn’t care about football. Don’t support it like you see in other areas. That is why the majority of the teams in GC are among some of the worst in the state. Greer is always decent. Ditto Hillcrest. And Mann has just recruited a good team.

As far as Greenville. They have two choices. They can either hire a recruiter, which is what brought their success previously, or they can be another Wade Hampton, Eastside, TR. Greenville saw this year the other side of that coin when they had nobody coming to replace the great players they had last year, and then most of the talent left got recruited away into the transfer portal at the start of the summer. Felt bad for Shaw as I think he thought he was taking over a program that was competing at the highest level. Then he arrived and saw the reality that the success wasn’t generated within a program and he was left with a team with very little talent and in various positions, no experience. Figure he started working his contacts in Georgia and he got out as quick as he could for another job as soon as the season ended. There are only a couple of guys around in that recruiting circle and they have been mentioned previously. Would be shocked if one of them weren’t the coach. I don’t care for all the recruiting. Seems like winning is a little empty that way. Can’t be much pride in it. But that is the way the game is played in some places these days.

I think it is "MOST" places... and I agree, the NIL is the next step I guess. We already have players bragging online that they are leaving to continue their playing career at _______ High School. First, the SCHSL used to police transfers to ensure they were not for athletic reasons and second, "career"???
