Southside
I am hearing a former Southside coach who is currently an AD in the upstate is a strong possibility there. How true this rumor is I do not know. Have also heard Julius Prince name as well. Southside is a tough job and plus it is in Greenville County so who knows.
Re: Southside
Is Southside your school? It is a tough job, second to Berea, with Carolina being the absolute toughest IMO. I almost think those schools would do better with coaches who aren't in the buildings or employed by GCSD. I know that's not going to happen and the vetting would be really difficult. Idk that I'd want Prince.District 25 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 10:46 amI am hearing a former Southside coach who is currently an AD in the upstate is a strong possibility there. Yes class of 93. It is a tough job but there have been years where the Tigers have competed. The biggest issue has been keeping the talent there and being put into 4A now. We will see what happens.
Re: Southside
Ok. I'm Berea '91, all too familiar with Southside. They've def had some teams to make some noise from time to time. The last few times they came to Pville they had a very, bright young coach. I can't remember his name. He was a tall, skinny black dude, wore glasses, very knowledgeable from what I recall. They also had a few asst. coaches, or guys hanging on the sideline that I wasn't so sure about. One of them drew an unsportsmanlike flag for screaming at the ref for addressing the coach by his name instead of calling him coach. Totally killed their vibe. You're right about keeping the talent. CCES has a really good QB on their MS team that is zoned for Southside. He's going to be a problem the next few years.District 25 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 2:20 pmYes class of 93. I miss seeing the Dogs and the Tigers run it on the court. Used be some bangers back in the day.

Re: Southside
Definitely some great battles with the Bulldogs over the years and yes the QB at CCES is a straight baller. Southside can't lose players loke this. I guess the hope with this rumor is that the coach did a good job of keeping the talent there and Southside experienced success while he was there. Guess time will tell if this rumor is true or not.

Re: Southside
I assume the rumored name you are talking about is Westside AD Jeremy West who had success at Southside before taking the AD position. I know Coach West personally and he enjoyed his time at Southside but I don't see him leaving what he has at Westside. I talked to him recently and he is very content at Westside. This would be a huge get for Southside but I don't see this happening.

Prince is Southside 2nd All-Time winning Coach, West inherited Prince team when he left for Berea.HoodRoad wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 2:01 pmIs Southside your school? Oh, I know. I'm familiar. My opinion, Southside had 3-4 studs that just didn't have the parts around them and the coaching they needed. They were really close to being a big problem.Footballfan8 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 9:38 amPrince is Southside 2nd All-Time winning Coach, West inherited Prince team when he left for Berea.HoodRoad wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 2:01 pmIs Southside your school? Re: Southside
Southside is stuck. Like most other GC schools. And with reclassification last year, that only added to their problems. And in today’s world in Greenville County if they do have a difference maker odds are they will get recruited away. Little support financially, or otherwise, make this an awful tough job

Coaching?!?! They were ranked in the top 10 one year and made playoffs appearances a few times while Prince was there.
