Some teams have impressed in the first couple of weeks while some have faltered already.
Some questions from Week One:
Region One's most improved team may be Westside, but beating Clover and a very much DOWN Lexington are not enough to move them into #1 or #2 in Region One.... but I did bump them up to #3 in the Region ahead of Laurens.
Dorman-vs-Gaffney was a real defensive struggle, both defenses struggled. Kind of reminded me of my Gamecocks.... So what do I take from that? Gaffney lost to Union County then went toe to toe with Dorman. So is Union that good? Is Dorman bad? What is the answer? I still have Region II as Byrnes, Boiling Springs, Spartanburg, Dorman in that order.
An 0-2 Northwestern is not what most of us would have thought a few short weeks ago, but alas, here we are. At 1-1, Rock Hill has beaten Blythewood {alright, I know that is not really impressive} and played South Pointe quite well before losing. Maybe they are on the way back to Region Contender? York continues to look good and has that same South Pointe squad this week, so if they make it to 3-0, some folks might start believing that Northwestern isn't a lock for Region III; but not just yet.
No one has done anything to make me even consider moving Dutch Fork from the #1 slot in Division One, let alone the #1 spot in Region Four.
Region Five is still a complete toss up with North Augusta getting the slight nod for now, but after that it's pick 'em for spots 2 and 3.
South Florence is still my pick Region Six with Sumter and Socastee and West Florence all looking like the three teams fighting for the other two automatic berths, I went Sumter and West this week.
Even with the close loss, Goose Creek is my team to beat in Region Seven but the gap between them and Stratford is not a wide one. Wando gets the #3 not for now.
Summerville got hit really hard last week with the injury bug, let’s hope that none are really serious and those players will be back soon, if not this week. I decided that last week’s game against Cane Bay and Fort D’s win in Week Zero over South Florence should move things in Region VIII’s projected standings. I move Fort D to #1 and Summerville to #2 and the other’s tied for 3rd with Ashley Ridge getting the tie breaker.
So that gives us the following brackets: {at least for a few days, then we shuffle them again!}
