FLORENCE, S.C. — When South Florence’s Tyreek Peterson learned he was moving from offense to defense during the spring, he didn’t put up a fight.

“We got our mind on track,” Peterson said. “After the Fort D game, that junk just hit us and we wanted to play hard as we can every play. That’s what we have been doing.”

“We are usually the underdog. But I’m sure they have us marked on the calendar since we beat them last year,” Prince said. “Sumter is always the standard in our region. You find out how good you are when you play Sumter."

“We got our work cut out but we look forward to the opportunity to play them.”

Sumter leads the series 16-2 :o

I had no idea that the 2010 44-0 beat-down I witnessed in Sumter was so historic. 8-)

I've been going to SF games since '09 and we're 3-2 against them over that period.

Sumter hasn't been in our region long. Until lately it was Conway and Marlboro along with Hartsville that dominated the region.

Knowing those numbers tends to give a little perspective regarding the historic nature of beating Sumter.
Hopefully they don't overwhelm the kids with it.

Reminds me of an Easley game back in the late '80s against TL Hanna.(DANG I'm that OLD GUY now.)
Easley won.
The thirty and forty year olds in the crowd were extremely excited. :D
The younger folks didn't understand what they had accomplished because we hadn't played Hanna in several years.

Easley was 1-9 against TL Hanna in the Decade of the '70s.
Sometimes it helps when you don't know that you are not supposed to win.

Since that streak was broken a couple years ago, I think SF should believe that they are supposed to win now.
Good Luck tomorrow night!

It's too early, I thought the headline read South Florence defense to get rolled at Sumter....

I guess I need to finish my first cup of coffee before I get online!

I think its time for Sumter to bounce back after two disappointing performances and a bye week to prepare. We've faced a lot of good teams. I believe well be ready and I expect a good game.
