How good are they? Since everyone says they play a weak schedule

As for the schedule, let's take a look

Image

Mauldin and Westside are the only two teams with a winning record so far and you are 1-1 against those teams. The one win against a team with a winning record was against Mauldin, who's wins are against Woodmont (3-4), Wade Hampton (1-7) and JL Mann (2-5) which is not going to impress anyone. Now, a win tonight against Laurens (6-1) sounds like a "GOOD WIN" until you look at the 6 teams that Laurens has beaten. Nothing impressive there either... so it's very hard to say just how good the Rams are. If they had played Greenwood's schedule and were 6-1, they would be ranked in the TOP FIVE and no one would be doubting them. But, they played teams that are having bad seasons, so folks are doubting them.

But here is the good thing.... what I or anyone else thinks about how "impressive" the wins are means SQUAT. They are wins and winning out could put the Rams in position to be at home for at least two if not three games in the playoffs. Trust me, I've seen the trophy, there is nothing on there that refers to how "good" a team was.... It just says State Champion.

I think this will be a good opportunity for the Rams to set themselves up for the playoffs and I wouldn't mind seeing this game, is it the TV Game by chance? Hillcrest needs Westside to have one more loss to have a shot at the Region Championship and the #1 Automatic Bid from Region One (and with Greenwood and Laurens still on their schedule, I'd say the chance is there for at least one more loss).

Winning out, would get you to the #3 or #4 seed most likely. That would likely mean two home games and then if the top seeds all win, a road trip on Thanksgiving weekend to Fort Dorchester or the Byrnes/Dorman Winner on Haloween... with Dutch Fork the other possible trip. Right there, you will find out just how good the Rams are!
