Banners and Images missing (Problem solved, we think.)

I noticed the same problem on a Windows 8.1 laptop and a Kindle Fire HD.

I was able to correct the problem on the laptop and the Kindle by following this procedure:

1. Make sure that you don't have scpreptalk.com open anywhere in your web browser. Be on another site such as Google.com.

2. Clear your internet "Cache" from whatever web browser that you are using.
(Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.....)
*This forum was recently moved to a different server and your browser is likely looking for the images from the old server*

3. Try using this link to connect to the forum...http://www.scpreptalk.com/viewforum.php?f=1
For whatever reason, it required clicking on this link from a Google Search of "scpreptalk" to correct this issue on the Kindle Fire HD. I hope this works for similar devices....

If the problem persists, try testing it on a different web browser. (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome)

Yeah I am still having this problem on the machine at work. My iPhone was doing the same thing but tonight scpreptalk loaded correctly and looked normal.

I will try your method tonight at work and see if it works. I'm ok with the site the way it is but I worry about new visitors or guests being disenchanted with it.

Well I was able to bring up the old style board by clicking that link but when I signed out and signed back in it went back to all white again with no banner.

Haven't tried messing with the cache yet.

Something else that's missing are the "quote" buttons on threads. They are there (I can find them by dragging the cursor over them) but are completely invisible!

I can't even see them from an oblique angle.

I fear this may be a deal breaker for some fans who visit the site and might otherwise make a post. With week zero a couple weeks away I sure hope we can find a fix. Do we have any more options as far as default styles? Setting the board to pro-silver makes all the links visible again but the layout is extremely jarring to anyone used to this site or to PFT.

I just poked the geek again and asked him to see if there are any additional settings he can play with that will serve up the images more reliably.

Hew was able to duplicate the problem with one of his browsers....

Yea, it was the same thing from before. The new server has a “feature” where they prevent your pictures from being linked to other websites and using your bandwidth. Not sure why it doesn’t jive well with ours, but I have to add the site to a list to prevent it from working. I added it before, but I put in http://www.scpreptalk.com" target="_blank. I also need to add scpreptalk.com without the www. Apparently, from what I can guess, when people use it without www, it would use the that stupid anti-picture linking feature.

If anyone has any more problems please let us know. Since he thinks the problem is triggered by the URL structure, try to copy and paste the URL of the link you are using.
