As first games go, Friday night’s season opener between Fort Dorchester and South Florence had a little bit of everything. Both teams made more than a few mistakes, but in the end, Fort Dorchester made fewer and came away with a 64-40 home victory.
Senior running back Datron James had a first half to remember, rushing for 153 yards and five touchdowns in the opening 24 minutes as the Patriots opened up a 43-20 halftime advantage.

The game played out pretty much how I feared it would. FD's got some big-ole' young men on the o-line, and Datron James took advantage of the holes they were making for him.

I came away from the game Friday night feeling the same way I felt last year, South Florence was a better team than the South Florence team that showed up for the game. Hope y'all can put it together like y'all did last year.

We have some things that need work, but I think we'll be fine too. We'll bank a respectable number of wins and have a good shot at winning our region again.
FD deserves their spot at the top of the polls.

Band Dad and Red Head pretty much summed it up for me.
