Sumter 10 Rock Hill 7

Post by bbrown1240 »

Sumter traveled to the upstate and came away with a good win. Rock Hill is probably the best 1-4 team out there. They are sneaky good. I think they'll make the playoffs. This is the third straight game in which out defense played outstanding. If we didn't fumble twice in the red zone, or miss some easy field goals, we could have had some more points and not made it hard on ourselves. Can't do that next week. I actually expect us to have a good showing against Dutch Fork next week. It's been years since our defense played this well consistently.

Region 6 is going to be interesting this year.

Last year's standings:
5 - 0 South Florence
4 - 1 Sumter
2 - 3 Socastee
2 - 3 West Florence
1 - 4 Carolina Forest
1 - 4 Conway

As I see it now...
Socastee and WF are down and will fight it out for the cellar.
CF moves up and may make the playoffs for the first time in school history.
Conway is up and will fight it out with Sumter and SF for the region title. I've seen all three of these teams play, Conway is probably the "most complete" of the three, but I wouldn't bet money on any of them. ;)

I would agree. Sumter still has some issues offensively. I wish we weren't so one dimensional, but no one has stopped the wildcat yet. We will really see where we are this Friday. We don't go at lightning speed like we have the past two years but if we get down big, our passing game is not good enough to bring us back. Luckily our defense has been outstanding the past couple of weeks.
