That's fine, I'll still be going there too. I simply did some searching to see how hard it would be and what it would cost.... within an hour I had the forum created and I was tweaking its settings. Didn't spend a dime! I have only invested a few hours of my time.

With today's internet connections and hot links it's really easy for people to pop-in and see if anything is new or to keep multiple tabs open at the same time.

Those new pop-up ads and surveys ticked me off, the regulars there ARE the content. People go to the forum to read what we are saying. I'll still read and post comments over there but I'm planning to post my original content over here.
I have the whole off-season to tweak my spreadsheet so I can post accurate schedules, standings and playoff projections, I'm considering covering all classes,...and maybe creating a sub-forum for band parents.

I'm guessing, just like real life, following one of those links will result in a virus.

The phpBB default settings made registration hard. It had those "text pictures" that you have to read, with selectable difficulty levels. The hardest ones were like those color-blindness test they had in the military, it took me two tries.
It also required that new members have their first posts moderated, I can turn that stuff back on if it becomes a problem. New member moderation seems to have sold the spam problem over at PFT.
