Congratulations to both Sumter and Conway, both are now 3-0 and they face off next week in Sumter.
My battered Bruins will host Socastee to battle for 3rd place and the Long-Bus-Ride-of-Despair in week 1 of the playoffs.
Several players left the field injured tonight, including:
- Bryan Edwards - Conway
- Lindsey Robinson & Hykeem White - South Florence
They are in my prayers and I wish them all a speedy recovery.

Conway knocks off South Florence despite Edwards leaving with injury
By Alan Blondin | The Sun news | MyrtleBeachOnline.com
CONWAY — There was a discernible lull in Conway’s intensity Friday night when star senior receiver Bryan Edwards went down without contact midway through the third quarter and had to be assisted off the field, unable to put any weight on his right leg.
The Tigers had a 13-point lead over South Florence and the ball. An interception four plays later, followed by a South Florence touchdown and a Conway three-and-out had the Tigers on their heels and on the wrong side of momentum. < snip >
But with Bruins quarterback Lindsey Robinson out with his own leg injury, Conway benefited from a fumbled shotgun snap for a 5-yard loss that helped hold South Florence without a first down on its ensuing possession, and an errant snap on a punt attempt sailed back to the Bruins’ 7, where Conway took possession.

Conway Coach Jordan said, "That’s the way it’s supposed to be in Region VI, Conway and Sumter, It hasn’t been recently but hopefully it will become that again."
Really Chuck? You may have just motivated me to blow off our game against Socastee to drive over to Sumter this Friday to see the Gamecocks hand y'all an old-fashioned beat-down.

That's the way it was till this down talent cycle. For the record I expect Sumter to win tomorrow night.
Our run defense is not good enough to carry us very far.

I'm not convinced. I remember Mykal Moody getting hurt about 3 years ago and Conway being down to their 3rd string QB and they came back and beat us. Granted, we weren't as good a team as we are now.

Yep.......sure did. Sumter looked really good..............state title contenders even!!! Sumter played solid football in all 3 three phases. Even Coach Barnes thinks they played their best football last night..........bruindad79 wrote:Looks like someone got took to the woodshed like SF did...

“There can be a lot of reasons why [the blowout] happened but I’m going to give our players a lot of credit,” said Mark Barnes, Sumter’s fourth coach in four years who won a state championship last year at Shelby (N.C.) Crest High. “We executed well at the beginning of the game. … When it mattered the most it was the most complete game we’ve played.”
