After many many many years of working on it, I have finally taken the plunge and added the scores for the 1950 to 1959 seasons to the SCFootballHistory.Com website.

We added 6131 scores to the system and about 21000 games to the database.

I am estimating there were 21,00 potential games played in the 1950 (200 teams X 10 games X 10 season....... plus playoffs). That of course is a give or take number as some teams played fewer than 10 games, others had no playoffs, and in some cases teams just stopped playing mid season if they did not have the numbers to continue.

So based on 6100 scores, I am guessing that I am 1/3 of the way complete, even though I doubt seriously that this databases will EVER be completed. Research is almost impossible on games from this era. Finding scores for the Class B and Class C schools is difficult and most scores that we do find are not in a grid but are only in a game story. The work is time consuming, tedious and often frustrating when information is missing.

I love game recaps such as The Spartanburg Crimson Tide won their game Friday night. Details in Sunday's paper but the Sunday paper does not exist.

If anyone wants to help then I would love some assistance, Go to your local library and research your school with coaches, schedules, results and game locations and I will be more than happy to credit the information.

I have worked on the 50s a few nights during the week and made some progress.

Up to 6769 games now....found the Greenwood Index Journal on line for a fee and the paper has provided some good information. Watching college football today and hoping to cross 7000 games.
