Ashley Ridge 37 - Summerville 21 FINAL
First off Congrats to the Swampfoxes for getting the win and setting up the undefeated match-up next week against FD for the Region VIII title. I was proud of the way Summerville fought back in the 2nd half after being down 21-7 at the half. Following a 60 yard run in the 4th quarter by #24 Felder for Summerville the score was 24-21 AR with 5:19 to go. AR however responded with a good drive to pull ahead 31-21 with only a few minutes to go in the game. Summerville drove deep into AR territory late only to give up a pick 6 and seal the win for AR. Region VIII 1st and 2nd place will be determined by the FD - AR game. 3rd place will come down to the Summerville - Bluffton game. A Summerville win and you will have a 4-7 3rd place finish for Summerville which will qualify them for a playoff birth....really sort of sad. If Summerville loses we will end up with 3 teams tied at 1-3 in the region -CC, Bluffton and Summerville. No one team will have beat the other two so it will come down to playoff points. I am not sure who would have the advantage in that scenario.

Congratulations to the foxes on the win. ..
Good luck in the playoffs.
As for the wave !!!!!!!!
I would personally like to thank the player's for giving it their all this season .they have played hard and haven't quit.
Theirs alot of talent on the roster that deserves to play at the next level in the coming years.
I just wish they could of had a better season but it's not because of these kids efforts.
GO WAVE.

Completely agree Wave80. We have playmakers on offense who did not touch the ball until the 2nd half. Good coaching will find a way to get the ball into their hands and that just did not happen enough tonight. With our injury to Taylor at QB I would love to see #13 have an opportunity at the position. Burnette is just too good to get the limited number of touches that he gets. He is very capable of passing the ball or tucking it and running. 3 interceptions tonight really hurt. Most of the passes thrown were off target resulting in some great catches by our receivers that really did not have to be. I do not blame our QB but he simply is not ready for the QB position other than running a Wildcat. Once the defenses see this they simply pull the safety in to stop the run putting 8-9 in the box. You see the single coverage and know we have the playmakers that can go up and get the ball but we simply can not get it to them. It really has been a frustrating season as you can see the talent on the field just being a spectator with the fans as the minutes tick away on the game clock. I really had high expectations coming into the season. I can see Summerville slipping into the playoffs at 4-7 with the 3rd place finish in Region VIII and then getting blown out at the #1 seed two weeks later in the 1st round of the playoffs. We would finish at 4-8 having our 3rd losing season in 64 years. As Wave80 stated this is not on the kids playing. Coaching just did not get it done so it should make for an interesting off season for The Wave. Ok, back to bed for me....

I'm not smart enough to figure out all the playoff possibilities, so I will give my opinion on the game last night. First off Ashley Ridge played a heck of a game! They deserved the win. I was proud of our kids though! They played hard, they kept coming, and they had their chances. We struggled all night trying to get something out of the QB position. I'm not talking bad about the kid at all personally. I have heard he is a good kid, but from a football stand point he is not ready to play qb and I'm not sure he is a quaterback. I actually thought the play calling was pretty good last night, but they were limited because of the qb. We had receivers open all night and we just couldn't get the ball to them. I read GBG state that maybe we should play Burnette at qb. And while I have seen the kid launch the ball in warmups, I don't know if he has ever played quaterback. Why not play Jackson there. He played qb on jv. Until Taylor comes back I'm not sure what the answer is, but I am sure that we need to make a change. I haven't heard how long Taylor is out but I sure hope he's back soon! Without a qb to throw the ball, we can't get Burnette the ball, and in every game we have played he has been the matchup that we consistently win. With our other deficiencies as a team, we can not afford to not take advantage of our mismatches!

AR did make it an exciting game...All year long AR has not been able to finish off a team or they start off slow. I blame some of this on the kids and some of it on the coaches. AR should have learned after last year 23-10 halftime lead only to lose by 30 that Summerville wasn't going to quit. I know AR is 9-0 but let them play like that against Ft. and it will be a long long long night. The 3rd quarter was a joke on Offense for AR. I mean you get the ball on the 28 and you end up on your own 20. Never seen a 3 and 62 in my whole life. AR has played with fire all year and I think they are about to have the flame put out this week. I hope not but I see it coming I believe this may be the week. I will say AR has had a very good year and I am happy that AR is 9-0 but last friday night kind of let me down because I thought we had matured. I predict Ft. scores 50 or more and AR might score 21. I know I sound like a fair weather fan but after last friday night game I was happy but I felt like we had lost if that makes sense. I am not saying AR has a team to win it all but they have a team that shouldn't be one and done in the playoffs either but unless AR can learn to finish off a team or play a full game every game it may just be that way. Good luck this week to the Wavemrfootball4life wrote:I'm not smart enough to figure out all the playoff possibilities, so I will give my opinion on the game last night.
