NW vs Gaffney for Region 3 crown

Four or five weeks ago, who would have thought this game would decide the region championship??

Comments/thoughts from anyone?

NW has been using this loss as motivation all year. They have been waiting for this one.

NW's offense has not looked sharp for a few games now, but the defense brings it....especially the defensive line.

Should be another good one in Rock Hill!

Wouldn't have it any other way... in my mind Northwestern is a Rival.. it may not be geographical like your city rival or like Gaffney/ Byrnes... but we've been going at it since the 80's!

Should be a good one, Gaffney brings a good squad to rock hill every year they come. With revenge on their minds I expect NW to come out firing on all cylinders. That hasn't been the case for the last 2 games.

So ... Do you think last year's loss was legitimate?? I thought maybe NW just sat out their starters or something since they'd already won the region... Resting them for the 1st round of playoffs.

Last year, Gaffney flat wore out NW. Period. I think NW was overlooking them, too. They are high school kids and sometimes the coaches cannot get the mindset they are looking for no matter what they say or do during practice that week.

NW has been using that loss as motivation each week this year. That loss dropped them from the upper bracket to the lower bracket, which most people felt was a lot harder last year.

NW's philosophy is "Win Today" and hopefully we will not see another let down like last year. I think there was some evidence of that against Nation Ford. NW looked somewhat better against Rock Hill, but certainly not "hitting on all cylinders" like they were before the bye week (bye/Clover/Nation Ford/Rock Hill).

I can remember Gaffney games back to 1990 when I was 8 and I don't remember us ever winning at Northwestern during the regular season. Doodles says Northwestern by 21, that sounds about right if Northwestern is still not hitting on all cylinders but if they are then they will be able to name the score.

They definitely have "a chip on the shoulder" about this game. It WILL be interesting!

With rainy weather for most of the week, I'd imagine both teams will be practicing inside all week. I wonder if this will have an effect on either team. NW has came out flat the past 3 weeks, so hopefully coach will emphasize a fast start all week.

If somebody would've said Gaffney would be playing for a region crown this week I would've lol so hard cause we have struggled all year we should've beat nations ford and didn't got handled then we have played decent after that but struggled against clover for the first half and then struggled mightily against fort mill so idk which Gaffney team will show up hope it's the team that showed up at rock hill and York but we shall see

Gaffney always bring a good squad to D3. With a little added enthusiasm (Region Crown) I think the player on both teams will be flying around.

I played on the NW team that started 1-5 then somehow made it to State that year. you never know how much fight a team has left in them until Friday nights!
