We have one of the worst seasons I can remember. Kids are not at fault.possibly no playoffs .
Very few programs around the state
Can know the anguish that our fans and players will go through.not to be smug but you have to be on top to fall very far boy this one stings.we must find a staff that can rebuild our program.
I believe we must separate from our old school ville staff.
Top tier coaching fresh insight and the willingness to build another dynasty .I really was hoping I was wrong and Joe and them could do it.at least 500 season with the retirement of JM.would have been accepted by most.we expected a drop.this cannot continue.I'll post more later.

Re: Flat freaking depressing
Take it from the Sumter Gamecocks. Look at this six year stretch from 2008 to 2013.
2008 - state finals
2009 - 2nd round
2010 - no playoffs
2011 - 1st round
2012 - no playoffs
2013 - state finals
It can be done!!!! Been there....done that. I know how you feel.
Felder is a heck of a back. It would be a shame to have his career end in the regular season. I hope the ville makes it in.

Re: Flat freaking depressing
The earliest playoff records I can find show Summerville playing in the post season(1968). I really do not know the last time we did not make the playoffs. I know for the whole Big 16 period we got the automatic bid but I believe they would have made it anyway all of those years just based on their record. We beat Bluffton and we are in, again. Granted we will be a #16 seed and be playing somewhere as a huge underdog in the 1st round. As a huge supporter of the program it really is disheartening to see what has happened to our program this year. We had some issues at the OC position that have been addressed but the bleeding has not stopped. We also have had numerous injuries to some of our skilled positions including the QB position which have really handicapped our offense. I firmly believe that something could have been done however to make adjustments. We have the talent on this team to not be 3-7 and having to win our last regular season game just to limp into the playoffs. I believe we defeat Bluffton this Friday and hopefully with 2 more weeks rest can get healthy enough to make a game out of the #1 vs #16 game. I believe an upset has happened in this game in the past...
. Sorry Gator fans but I could not resist the little poke.

Re: Flat freaking depressing
More than the OC needs to quit before things get better I agree. I think Summerville needs to clean house but I have a feeling that won't happen. I say if Summerville wins and makes the playoffs Call keeps his job because they will say he didn't have time to really make this his team etc...I don't think they will replace Call but I think there should be more house cleaning then just the OC that is for sure.GoBigGreen wrote:The earliest playoff records I can find show Summerville playing in the post season(1968). I know all about this. One winning season since 2008 until now. Up to that point only 3 losing seasons in 30 years. Coach Jordan shook up the staff and gave up his AD duties to concentrate on football. He wanted to get the program back on top before retiring. Hopefully he has succeeded.

Better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. Try being an RNE fan.

Re: Flat freaking depressing
Wave Fan is correct.....the last time the Wave did not make the playoffs was 1968. The run is currently 47 straight seasons in the playoffs.
Of course from 1982 to 2010, the Wave made the playoffs every year in the BIg 16 but even without the automatic bid, Summerville would have qualified most seasons. Maybe the 95 or 96 season would have been questionable depending on the format but most seasons Summerville would have qualified despite the Big 16.
Funny thing about 1968 that I found interesting.
Summerville finished the 68 season with a 8 and 2 record but did not make the playoffs. Only the region champion qualified in those days. Summerville lost the opening game of the season in a Region game to James Island 33-12 in week one of the Class 3A Lower Atlantic Region. That meant James Island had to lose twice for Summerville to win the region. The Trojans did not winning every region game.
Summerville with a 6-1 region, 8-2 overall record stayed home while Jimmie Island won the region with a perfect 10-0 record. (Summerville lost non region to Greenville)
In the playoffs James Island's stadium did not qualify for hosting so they played at the Citadel beating Conway then Moultrie (Pre Wando) in the lower state finals.
James Island then played Woodruff for the "first" 3A state championship. The game was played at the new Dorman Stadium (which had only been opened 2 years) on Thanksgiving Friday 1968 ( A Wall Mart now sits on the site and the football stadium is covered with the parking lot.)
Summerville has been in the playoffs every season since 1968 winning 77 playoff games since 1960.

Re: Flat freaking depressing
Thanks for the clarification Dave. Well if the streak is to continue we will do it with a 4-7 team that is really banged up and lacking consistent direction. I however am encouraged by what I am hearing about this week's game
.

Absolutely astonishing record if you sit back and look at it.
