Well hopefully a 40 point blowout was good enough for you Summerville.

I was under the impression all year that Fort had a good offense but a leaky defense. I was surprised that they held an undefeated opponent to so few points.

Leaky Defense? They've given up 8 points a game since week 3

Cav, the Fort defense started out a little shaky due to some injuries, but have played really well down the stretch. Through the first 3 games Fort Dorchester gave up 101 points - 33.6 points allowed per game. Over the final 8 games Fort only allowed 71 points - good for 8.8 points allowed per game. Since week 3 the defense has been a strength of this team. Over the whole season the defense is allowing just over 15 points allowed per game...The Fort defense last year which was one of the top defenses in the state allowed 13ppg last season, so this year didn't fall off too much at all statistically speaking. Gotta give alot of credit to the coaching staff for that - Fort lost alot of talent on defense and many people expected the defense to take a step back, but they have exceeded expectations up to this point. They play really tough and have been timely with turnovers.
The offense has been consistent all season averaging more than 40ppg. Pretty impressive statistics especially considering the starters have only played the full game only a few times this season. I'm gonna post about the Fort/AR game in more detail a little later - but in a nutshell AR had no answer for the Fort offense and the AR offense could never get into a rhythm and faded down the stretch going scoreless for the final 3 quarters. Fort starters didn't even play the 4th quarter.

So I imagine there was no storming of the field tonight....Congrats Fort D on the win. The outcome is really what I expected. Y'all are the best we have in the area and should make a deep run in the playoffs.

Here's the write-up from the local paper in Charleston. Fort had 303 yds on 26 offensive snaps and had more than 500 yds in the first 3 quarters.

Lol no storming. I knew the game was over when the PA announcer stated multiple times that there would be no students allowed on the field after the game, he probably said it 4 or 5 times in the 2nd half. I guess Ashley Ridge can dish it out but not take it!

lol. Really though AR kept the game very competitive for the 1st quarter and I thought I was in for a stressful evening but Fort responded and never looked back. Fort played a great game and AR just sort of sputtered all night...I wouldn't want to play them again (and according to EHS latest projections we just might) but at least for tonight Fort was the better team.

I couldn't make it to Bluffton so I eased over to the ridge and watched AR get handled relatively easy. Fort was the more physical team, and it showed! Left at the start of the first very satisfied with the outcome. Ok now that all that's out of the way, no more kind words for the fort, things are back to normal and all is right in the world!
