The Rematches Of The Century

On the Lower Side of the State we have Goose Creek visiting Fort D to see who comes out of the lower state (Charleston).
Fort D won the regular season game by a final score of 20-13. Goose Creek is coming off a win against a very Dangerous Hillcrest team by a final of 50-49 and Fort Dorchester is coming off a win against Boiling Springs by a final score of 56-34. I think Fort D's defense will prove its worth and shine through as it has this whole year.

Fort D 31
Goose Creek 17

One the Upper Side of the State we have Dorman visiting Byrnes, to see who will represent the upper state (Spartanburg).
Byrnes took the victory in the regular season by a Final score of 31-7. Byrnes is coming off a 35-14 win against Sumter, while Dorman is coming off of a 49-13 win against Dutch Fork. I saw a post and someone said that it's hard to beat Gutshall twice in one season. Well he's right Gutshall is a chess player when it comes to football, and I think he'll be yelling checkmate in this game.

Dorman 24
Byrnes 17

Don't forget about the rematches, between Northwestern and Nationford, and South Pointe and Union County coming up this week.

Hopefully Dorman is more healthy this time around.

I don't think Tyrek Long or Diquan Green got hurt this week but lets just hope they or anybody else on the team didn't either

Dorman is pretty healthy at this point in the season. As I understand it, we got back most if not all the starters that were injured in the BS game.

The paper reported that Gutshall was shocked at the outcome of the Dutch Fork game. I believe most fans were also kind of in a daze all night. I know I was in a state of awe as things just kept rolling down hill for us. There weren't any fluky things that happened. No balls bouncing in funny directions, no critical injuries or mistakes from the Dutch Fork side. Dorman just about played a perfect game with few penalties on either side of the ball. I would never have guessed our backups would be playing for most of the 4th quarter in that game. And I don't recall any Cavs slow to get up Friday night.

Hopefully they've already put Friday's domination behind them and are preparing for next Friday because the Byrnes defense is gonna be a whole other kind of animal and I'm sure their offense will have a few surprises also. Our pocket will have to act quickly and decisively because I'm sure the #1 strategy that the Byrnes defense will throw at us is to get in the backfield as often and as fast as possible.

As far as the other side of things, well our defense has improved into the post season but I'm sure Byrnes' offense has also.

For those that did not attend the game, the final score was no where indictive of how bad Dorman dominated this game. It could have been much much worse.

Dutch Fork had a 73 yard run on the 3rd play of the game and besides that had 26 yards on 30 plays the remainder of the half and no first downs.

Meanwhile Dorman went to half with 359 yards of offense with a 50/50 mix of run and pass.

Dorman scored on ALL 5 possessions in the first half and did not punt until the end of the 3rd on a 4th and 1 after a holding call.

Dorman had 3 plays they could have run all night and Dutch Fork could not have stopped them. Bain was good for yardage around the end all evening. Most plays it was 6 to 8 yards before he was even touched. The Slot End was open when he simpey ran 10 yards and set down in the middle and Long and Green were good all night running simply go routes. Dutch Fork could not have stopped them if they played to midnight.

Gutshall called off the dogs with the score 49 to 7 in the 3rd Q and played everyone who made the trip. Dorman could have won 70 to 7 if DG had wanted to run up the score ala another coach who will go nameless.

Dorman played their best game in 4 years Friday night. If they play the same way this week, it will not even be close.

Expect Nixon to be Electric Friday night. I still say losing to Spartanburg was the best thing that could have ever happened to the Rebs... Pure focus. Offense and Defense Line total domination from both lines. Sumters DLine was gassed by the 2nd quarter and finally the refs were gassed and stepped in to try and slow Big Blue down. Double edged sword with a hella running and passing game you can't stop both. Defend the run and we will drop silver bullets on you all night long. Defend the pass and we will run the ball right down your throat with 4 fresh rotating backs. I'm painting a pretty picture for the Rebs,,, Yup that's how it's supposed to be but we are playing Dorman so we respect yall and expecting yall to bring your A+ game. Nothing but pure focus on the Cavs.

This may very well be the game of the year. I feel it will be much closer than the last one. Dorman will come ready, but so will Byrnes. Remember, Byrnes has lost this game 3 years in a row, I do not believe those boys will let it happen again. As I have said all year, Byrnes' 2 shrine bowlers will be the difference. #9 will be the best WR in this game that demands double coverage all night and #12, who does everything for the Rebels. One or both will make the plays that sends the Rebs back to Columbia.
