Dorman vs Fort D in 5A finals

Post by Newcatntown »

Haven't seen either team play this year...but based on what I've read and heard...it would be a great rematch from 2 years ago!

This will likely be the match up in the Semis and not the finals as both teams are in the lower state. But do agree, it would be a great game. If it were to happen Fort D would have to travel to DF as the bracket dictates DF would have home field advantage. FD beat DF earlier in the year at their place and would have to do it again to move on to the finals, if both teams win out.

Lol...I can not read. In my head it said Dutch Fork. TL Hanna may have something to say about that upstate bracket.

Yea Fort beat us this year 35-14, one of the closest games (DF & Summerville are the others) that they’ve played this season, if Dorman can make it to Columbia it will be a good matchup, Dorman just has to keep this momentum up.

I'm not giving either team the nod for Columbia just yet. But if I had to put money down right now, I would say:

First Half of the Upper State Bracket comes down to:
Dorman and T L Hanna

2nd Half of the Upper State Bracket comes down to:
Gaffney and Spartanburg

Lower State appears to be a two team race:
Fort Dorchester rematch with Dutch Fork

If you go with those assumptions, I would say a Dorman -vs- Gaffney rematch and the Indians are playing much better than the first time these two met and I may make the trip to see this rematch.

If you want to see the Lower State rematch, you would head to the north of Columbia {yes, I said LOWER STATE} to see the game. I know we have always heard that it is hard to beat a good team twice, see 2009 and 2010 and others to see how Byrnes and Dorman ruined each other's perfect season at Williams Brice and Byrnes over Gaffney at Clemson a few years later. Can Fort Dorchester win the rematch? Of course they can, and quite possibly they will.

I think we have a few surprises waiting in the next couple of weeks and some, or possibly all the teams I've listed could be eliminated before Columbia. But I'd have to say, at least one of the two teams listed in the title of this thread, will be at Williams Brice and if I had to bet on one, I'd be chicken and go with Fort Dorchester. Mainly because there seem to be at least three or four teams from the Upper State that have what it takes to play on the first weekend in December.

Either way... we get the opportunity for some good games!

Well...two weeks down..two ta go...Both these teams looking solid so far. I know the next 2 games will be tougher for them...but I still feel that these are the 2 heading for Cola on Dec. 2.

Sadly, I wont be in Cola that day...but I will be at the ACC Championship game at BOA Stadium. :D GO TIGERS!!!
