Greenwood at Dorman (Round 3): Poll and Predictions

Post by GwoodEagle2k1 »

I hate we don't play in the regular season like we used to as it always was a game I looked forward to. Anyways, should be a great game. At this point in the playoffs all the blowouts are more than likely over. Nothing left but the best teams in the state duking it out. The Hanna win gave Greenwood some much needed confidence. I gotta try keep my BP down this week because I'll probably have multiple heart attacks just like last week against Hanna  If Greenwood can keep playing at the high level that they are currently, I'm confident we can win. It will be tough but doable.

I had to be a homer and vote for Dorman. It's only because we beat everyone in our region by double digits. But Greenwood has stolen our thunder before. When is the last time Dorman and Greenwood played in a playoff game? Have they ever?

According to http://scfootballhistory.com/Team/Series.aspx
1990 11/9/1990 12 4A Region 2 Dorman 14 12 Greenwood Win 4A - Division 1 Region 3 Playoffs Away 1st Round
1984 11/9/1984 11 4A Region 2 Dorman 13 17 Greenwood Loss 4A - Division 1 Region 3 Playoffs Away 1st Round

Dorman and Greenwood are 1-1 in the playoffs against each other.
First time that Dorman will be the home team in a playoff match-up against Greenwood.

The numbers aren't exactly in our favor. How much of that do you expect is the difference between the two regions?

Depends on which numbers you concentrate on.
Outcomes against common opponents favor Dorman.
Dorman 35 Hillcrest 18
Dorman 48 Laurens 20

Hillcrest 48 Greenwood 44
Greenwood 34 Laurens 11 (simliar outcomes against Laurens)

I think most would agree that Hillcrest had improved by the time that Greenwood played them in Week 8 as compared to when Dorman played them in Week 2.

This game might be about how many times Greenwood can force Dorman to punt. The more at bats the Eagles high flying offense gets the better for Greenwood.

Should be a really good game.
