It was played like a game type scrimmage. It was 0-0 through a quarter and a half and South Pointe scored on a long run right after Gaffney's best player, a WR was injured the series directly before and it took the wind out of the Tribe's sails! South Pointe's other score was a long pass on a busted coverage on 3rd & long by a reserve Gaffney DB. Gaffney got a safety on a bad punt snap and scored on a long screen pass on the last play of the scrimmage on South Pointe's reserve defense. South Pointe's linebackers looked good to me, a #48 was playing linebacker and rover and came up to make the sure tackles in the run game and screen game. Also #8 was a linebacker and he was also a sure tackler and very explosive when he got his hands on the ball on an INT. The South Pointe qb was wearing #31 but was poised in the pocket and I think in a real game will have some designed qb keepers, the SP WRs are also a solid group! In other words South Pointe isn't going away anytime soon. I can't wait to hear how they play against Byrnes Friday. Gaffney is breaking in a sophomore qb and SP was coached well to get their hands up along the defensive line and it gave him some trouble, he is 6'1 so that was news. Both teams had some dropped passes and SP missed a short FG. Good luck to the Stallions on another successful season not that I think you will need much luck.

Also our player that was carted off with a hurt shoulder is alright, we also had a starting safety leave dinged up near the end of the first quarter. I was told they will be fine in time for Week 1, we don't have any scrimmages or jamborees left scheduled. Our next live action is the 24th. I've never heard of such a break between a teams last scrimmage / jamboree and their first real game.

Thanks for that info Whoa! Good luck to Gaffney the rest of the season! Glad all the G-town players who got dinged up are alright! If Gaffney has a Sophomore starting at QB he must be very talented! He will only get better as the season goes on. Whew; regarding the LB play! Wasn't "real-real" worried about QB as Steele has played some important minutes and should be poised.
Thanks again Whoa! Anytime you step on the football field vs. a Gaffney or a Byrnes or a Butler it can only serve to make you better! Iron sharpening iron!
