According to the Brackets posted...
in 5A...(if I decipher them correctly?)

Upper State
Region 1- 5 of 8 teams will get automatic bids
Region 2- 5 of 8 teams will get automatic bids
Region 3- 3 of 5 teams will get automatic bids
Region 4- 3 of 5 teams will get automatic bids (#3 will be sent to the lower state bracket)
There will be 1 At-Large team in the Upper State bracket.

Lower State
Region 5- 3 of 5 teams will get automatic bids
Region 6- 4 of 6 teams will get automatic bids
Region 7- 4 of 6 teams will get automatic bids
Region 8- 3 of 5 teams will get automatic bids
There will be 1 At-Large team in the Lower State bracket.

Oh dear Lawd, 2 at-large berths! Any word on how they will be picked since most AD's aren't inclined to keep up with a point system?

How do you determine the most job-scared coach? The one most willing to sign his team up for the long-bus-ride-of-despair just so he can claim to have made the playoffs?

I don't know.

The one At-Large team in the 5A playoffs (Lower State bracket) was selected by a committee the past two years .
To my knowledge, they were selected based on each of the available teams' Resume.
In 2016 Irmo was selected; Socastee was selected in 2017.

In my opinion, both of these teams had the best looking resume in the year they were chosen.
Of course, nobody asked for my opinion.
