South Florence rolls past James Island in opener

The Bruins scored on three of their first four possessions and defeated James Island 41-14 in Friday’s season opener for both teams at Memorial Stadium. The game was called with 5:35 left because of lightning. But South quarterback Shalique Parks and running back Tony McFadden saw it was over well before that.
Thrust into the starting role as a freshman in Game No. 4 last year, Parks on Friday made plays on the ground and through the air. He finished with 220 yards passing and a touchdown while also rushing for 52.
