This was a good read. Three upper state titles, a state title, and also became mayor! Sounds like he was a heck of a guy. Very classy move by the Easley community.
Only Gaffney won more games during the Decade of the 1960's.

The penny sales tax that was approved when Carr was mayor has been very beneficial for our Recreation Dept.
We have nice facilities. Easley currently hosts the Senior League World Series for Little League Baseball.
When they get too old for Williamsport, they head to Easley.
Easley hosts many tournaments in a wide variety of sports throughout the year.
Basketball, Baseball, Football, Volleyball, Soccer, etc...

I watched them beat GREENWOOD that year in the playoffs and LOWER RICHLAND
for the state 7-6. EASLEY had one MEANGREEN defense that year and of course
the great STANLEY MORGAN.LOWER RICHLAND was coached by the great MOONEY PLAYER.
Larry Bagwell was the coach at Easley in 1972. He took over in 1967 for Bill Carr.
He is the current Mayor of Easley.
Coach Bagwell won 2 State Titles(1967,1972) at Easley and the Gymnasium at the Recreation Complex is named for him.
