Playoff Projections Week of 10/08

Post by Dave Pickren »

Region 1 #1 Home TL HANNA
Region 2 #5 SPARTANBURG

Region 2 #4 BOILING SPRINGS
Region 3 #2 Home NORTHWESTERN

Region 2 #1 Home BYRNES
Region 1 #4 WOODMONT

Region 3 #3 NATION FORD
Region 4 #2 Home BLYTHEWOOD

Region 3 #1 Home ROCK HILL
Region 1 #5 EASLEY

Region 2 #3 GAFFNEY
Region 1 #2 Home GREENWOOD

Region 4 #1 Home SUMTER
Upper State At-Large MAULDIN

Region 1 #3 WESTSIDE
Region 2 #2 Home DORMAN

Dorman, Gaffney, and Byrnes are almost interchangeable at this moment until after the game Friday night.

Byrnes wins then
Rebels 1
Indians 2
Cavs 3

Dorman wins then 3-way tie which I think is going to favor Dorman
Scores after 3rd Quarter

Dorman + 5 over Gaffney
Dorman TBD Byrnes

Gaffney - 5 to Dorman
Gaffney - 13 to Byrnes

Byrnes + 13 to Gaffney
Byrnes + - to Dorman

As long as Byrnes does not lose by more than 31 to Dorman then this will be a 3-way tiebreaker.
Dorman would be 1st with a better than +5
Byrnes second by head to head or better than MINUS 18 against Dorman and Byrnes.
Gaffney is 3rd.

I don't see any way out of 3rd for Gaffney.
Of course, this assumes all teams winning out in other games.
Boiling Springs could still win the region with a win over Byrnes and Gaffney and a loss by Dorman to Byrnes

Spartanburg looks like 5th regardless now. I see no better possible finish for the Vikings.
Mauldin or Hillcrest will be 6th and I assumed will get the AT-LARGE BID.

Not that it matters much since this is already decided. So many missing games that most of these are guesses at this stage

Dutch Fork vs. Summerville and Berkeley vs. Fort in the semis would be a nice set of semis

Dutch Fork would be the ROAD team against the Region 6 champion in the LOWER STATE SEMIS
Dutch Fork would play against either Fort at Berkeley ON THE ROAD IN THE LOWER STATE FINALS

Slicker would have HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE all the way to state. Region 7 Champion has the NOD this season.

Region 5 #1 Home DUTCH FORK
Region 6 #4 SOUTH FLORENCE

Region 7 #2 Home CANE BAY
Region 8 #3 ASHLEY RIDGE

Region 6 #1 Home CONWAY
Lower State At-Large IRMO

Region 8 #2 Home SUMMERVILLE
Region 7 #3 STRATFORD

Region 7 #1 Home BERKELEY
Region 4 #3 SPRING VALLEY

Region 5 #2 Home LEXINGTON
Region 6 #3 WEST FLORENCE

Region 8 #1 Home FORT DORCHESTER
Region 7 #4 GOOSE CREEK

Region 6 #2 Home CAROLINA FOREST
Region 5 #3 CHAPIN

I'm confused:

How does the tiebreaker favor Dorman?

At 3rd quarter score:
Dorman is at +5
Byrnes is at +13

And I'm hearing from a couple of folks that the tiebreaker is now based on final score, so that would mean

Dorman is at - 1 point
Byrnes is at +20 points
.

I'm thinking about entering the transfer portal!

How is Dorman -1 point? We beat them by 3?

Also I'm hearing that the tiebreaker was changed to lowest total points allowed between the three tied teams. I can't believe I'm saying this but Byrnes is just going to have to win and simplify things for those doing projections.

Byrnes to score 15+ and Dorman to score 20+. We need Dorman to win. That is if it's lowest points scored through out all four Qtrs. That's for Gaffney to win region right?..plus win out against BS and Burg.

No, we gave up 53 total points. (34 to Byrnes and 19 to Dorman)
Byrnes gave up 13 to Gaffney plus TBD vs. Dorman.
Dorman gave up 22 to us plus TBD vs. Byrnes.

Gaffney needs Dorman to win a shootout by scoring at least 41 points and Byrnes to score 32 or more if what I am being told is good info and of course Gaffney has to win their last three games.

Dorman-45
Burnz-31 Final.

According to your numbers, that puts the numbers at:

Burnz-58
Dorman-53
Gaffney-53

But...........you are all forgetting Boiling Springs sitting there at 4-1 along with the other 3. It is now a 4-way tie at the top. Good luck with all of that. It is going to take a Chinese mathematician and a super computer to figure this one out when all of the smoke clears.
