South Florence athletics facilities named for Watts
The Florence 1 board voted unanimously Thursday to name the South Florence High School Athletic Complex in honor of outgoing Athletic Director Mike Watts as he retires after a 37 year career at the school.
Watts began serving South as an assistant football coach when it opened in 1975, becoming athletic director and head coach two years later.
Watts continued coaching football until 2000 and stayed on as AD after that.
