FLORENCE — Longtime South Florence athletic director Mike Watts is calling it quits at the end of the school year. <snip>
The 65-year-old, who is in his 41st year of working in Florence, thought about hanging it up last year but decided to come back one more year. <snip>
Watts said his retiring would free him up to spend more time with his family and grandchildren. <snip>
Watts grew up in the Upstate and was a standout football player at Woodruff High School. He was the quarterback on the school’s 1965 undefeated season and also is a member of the school’s athletic hall of fame. Watts attended East Tennessee after that. <snip>
