Greenwood Spring Game

Got a long way to go but looked ok for a spring game. Defense should be good again this year. Tolbert will be unstoppable once he gets more comfortable throwing. Got all summer to work on it so I expect him to be ready to roll come August. Running the ball he looks just as good as Dre was. Maybe better.

You can see the kids have been working. Seem to be more confident. Hopefully they'll be coached properly. That's what it comes downs to in the end.......

They did seem confident and went hard every down. The running backs ran hard and the defense looks like it will be good. They actually were good last year, but stayed on the field too much because of lack of offensive production. The running looked good, but have to pass in 5A if you're going to be in the spread and have great success. Hopefully the passing will get much better. It seemed to be more organized this year also. I liked the inclusion of recognizing the little league football and the idea of having the rising ninth graders from middle school to commit and sign to Greenwood, as if they're committing to a college. Creative and I hope it works. The leadership is the same, so need to see more creative play calling from the coach this season. Not stuff that the opposing defenses can guess at with relative ease. The talent is there, just have to lead and put them in a position to win. I'll remain pessimistic, as when I was highly optimistic it brought on too much stress. If I'm pessimistic maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

They have a new coach at G'Wood? If not they will struggle in 5A with that offense or lack of it, way too predictable
The players are there for sure, it's really an untapped reservoir of potential but again 5A is a tall task
if they are in fact 4A and they have a new coach, ignore this reply

The coach is the same and they're 5A, which is where I want them. To be the best beat the best. Going to 4A doesn't guarantee victory either. There are many years that South Pointe was the best team in all of SC high school football and they're in 4A.

Pippen better change something. Am sure he was hired with competing for state championships in their heads. Talent seems to be there, as it is most years. But something is missing. But figure he must look to change something or this will be his last year in Greenwood.

Dan Pippin's offense requires good quarterback play in order for his teams to do well. We'll have that this year. One way or another this will be a great year for Greenwood football. Can't get much worse anyways after last season lol.
